Waldo sent me this gem while I was on vacation. Thought I’d share.
First up, Don Cheadle is one of the great American actors. Also I’ve ALWAYS hated Captain Planet mostly for what the show stood for. My biggest beef was that the villains are your standard youth cartoon villains, which I mean is one-dimensional. No backstory, no motivation, they do bad things because they’re bad people, and that’s the end of it.
Its one thing when you’re dealing with giant robots, or homo-erotic barbarians, but Captain Planet was designed to have real-world appeal. I don’t know about now, but back in those days even tho GI Joe was a somewhat realistic show that dealt with the military and terrorists, the show was just for entertainment, and didn’t discuss how to fight or survive terrorism.
Meanwhile Captain planet was about promoting the green agenda, saving energy, and reducing pollution, and the villains were people who produced trash, pollution, and wasted energy.
What this teaches children was the local paper plant dumps dioxin in the river because they get a kick out of killing fish, and ruining fresh water, rather than being unaware of the dangers, or more likely doing their best to mitigate the dangers for the lest-expensive bottom-line.
And of course as we all grew up, we started learning the Green Agenda is much less the champions of the planet, and more Luddites divorced from reality, or a bunch of corrupt hacks altering scientific data to line their pockets with grant money.
I think this is the logical end of Captain Planet. And I LOL’d a lot!
Not only are the anti-gun supporters unhappy people, but Thirdpower muses over how it seems that are also REALLY lonely.
One antigun blogger who I will only link indirectly (Follow that link for a solid feel on the character of this individual), recently posted this older article, and this quote really struck a chord with me.
Though most voters back gun control, says Norquist, their support doesn’t move them to the polls. “But for that 4-5 percent who care about guns, they will vote on this,”
This is a common explanation is a commonly touted one by the antis. “The Majority of Americans want more gun control…but those people aren’t as motivated by the NRA to vote on the issue.” Occam’s Razor comes to mind. Does this solution make sense? Are there a very small, but highly dedicated group of gun rights supporters who totally swamp the polls every year, while people who strongly want more gun control leave the space blank, or don’t show up?
I’ll also note that The lamentation of countless gun rights supporters ganging-up on a singular anti-gun bigot is the rule, not the exception. Every anti-gun blog either blocks all comments, or has some form of arbitrary moderation. Yet the anti-rights blogs that allow comments have the vast majority of their comments from the pro-gun side, and many documentations of comments submitted, but never published. Pro-gun commenters can be counted on one hand. Of those commenters only a few dare to go to pro-gun blogs to discuss their point…and when they do their actually ability to engage in debate is STRONGLY lacking.
Of course it could be that the anti-rights types aren’t big on the interent. The vast majority of their support are aging baby-boomers who aren’t as big on the blogs and social media as the younger generations…well except this same thing happens in real life too. Like a dozen protesters showing up for an hour to a three-day pro-gun convention of 70,000. Note that there is no equivalent to the NRA annual convention, or the SHOT show, or Steel Challenge, or Bianchi cup, in the anti-gun world. There is no equivalent of a gun show, or a gun club in the anti-gun world. Hell there’s not even an equivalent of our little regional get-togethers, because the vocal anti-gun supporters are so thinly spread throughout the country that all the antis I know of are spread hundreds of miles apart.
And their acts are worth note. Joan Peterson rings a “Remembrance Bell”, Baldr and the Million Mom March push plywood box cars.
Meanwhile talk to anybody who teaches a conceal carry course, or a hunter safety course. Many of them had to expand their class dates just to make their waiting lists shorter. Gun shops and gun makers are one of the few industries that are doing BETTER these days than they were the years before.
If gun control has support, I just don’t see it.
So I’ve been traveling a lot, my house is a mess, and I spent all day yesterday sick in bed, and thought about calling in sick today, but decided the better of it.
Well needless to say, I’m not feelin’ it, and certainly I find that I just don’t have the patience to read the anti-gun blogs as of late. Still this fruit was just too low not to pick.
With all the sadness that marks the topic of this blog, Iām always happy to celebrate the wonderful news of new life joining us.
Now there’s the crux of the anti-gun argument. They are in the misery department. Not only do they constantly dance in the blood of victims of “Gun Death” (but ONLY “Gun Death” other deaths are irrelevant.) and demand we all feel guilty, and responsible for the criminal behavior of others. They also demand that responsible people be treated the same as violent criminals, and everybody be treated as if they were children.
But behind the scenes is misery too. They know their laws don’t work at what they claim. They know that gun control makes lawful people LESS safe, and in fact they are simply helping the drug gangs with their laws (and if you read the Brady Campaign twitter feed, you’ll find that inner city drug abusers and gang members are their biggest supporters!)
Meanwhile we seek to lower the overall violent crime rate, not just “Gun Death”, we’re also on the side of the lawful citizen, and against the inner city gangs. We’re for self defense, and self reliance. There’s a funny bumper-sticker with a picture of a gun that says “We don’t call 911″…lot of bravado, and maybe not the wisest advice, but if danger comes knocking I’ll have something a bit more useful than a phone in my hand. Its true that when seconds count, the police are minuets away…but I’ll also say I can draw my 1911 from concealment and put several well-aimed shots down-range in a lot faster time than it takes to draw my cell phone and punch in “911”.
Not only that we bring the shooting sports. Shooting guns is FUN! Collecting guns is FUN! Hunting is FUN! And competing in shooting sports is FUN!
There’s that, or there’s pushing a plywood box car all by yourself, or ringing a bell and feeling sorry for yourself. Which side would you chose?
So if I’m reading this right, the right one is safe, the left one is full auto, and straight up is …
Oh, hell, let’s just not go there.
It looks better on you than Weerd, we’ll just leave it at that.

MINNEAPOLIS – Four people were stabbed and one killed early Tuesday morning in a fight at a home in northeast Minneapolis. Police said a woman with stab wounds walked into the 2nd Precinct station around 2:15 a.m. and said there was another victim inside the home at 1016 Lowry Ave. NE.
En route to the Lowry Avenue home, officers found two men with stab wounds. Once officers arrived on Lowry they found another man dead from an apparent stabbing.
But I’ll note that unlike New York City, and the UK, Minnesota is not a victim disarmament zone, and all it would have taken was ONE armed victim, or an armed bystander to stop this. You never know when things like this are going to happen, so carry your damn guns, people!
And remember “Gun Death” is bullshit, even a creep with a knife can kill you just as dead as a thug with a .44 Magnum.

So the Ruger SR1911 is the new kid on the block for 1911s. Two things I REALLY like about this gun. #1. They did it 100% right by my tastes. If I had this gun I’d take it out of the box and shoot it. PERIOD! Compare that to my 5′ Stainless S&W1911 I had to dump the full-length guide rod because it does nothing good to the gun, but does make it a pain in the ass to strip, or to clear problematic malfunctions. The only thing else would be the grips which is just for personal taste. I’m more functional than looks, so I wouldn’t bother unless something really peachy showed up.
But yeah, grips, sights, controls, all are how I like them. I kinda like forward slide serrations when doing a press-check, but that’s nothing necessary, you can press-back from under and forward on the smooth steel without much issue, and of course you can always draw back the slide from the rear as JMB intended.
#2. PRICE! That Ruger retails for about what I paid for my S&W USED!
I got a chance to handle one at the NRA convention, and they feel like really solid 1911s. Of course the M1911 pattern gun was designed to be hand-fitted, and made from forged and machined steel. The SR1911 is a cast gun, made 100% here in the United States.
So the question is “Is it any good?” and frankly how can we figure it out? The #1 test is high round counts. Seems these days any potmetal gun maker can make a gun that will run like a top for 300-500 rounds before its cut corners begin to digest it.
Who do we know who shoots the bejesus out of guns?
Note the part where he bought the gun from Ruger. That’s a damn glowing review.
I’d say if you’re looking for a good 1911 that’s set up in what should be called “Modern Stock”, as “Semi-custom” doesn’t seem to say much when EVERYBODY has 3-dot sights, a light trigger, and a swept beavertail with “Speed bump”, but again the sticker price of a Colt, or a Springfield loaded, or a S&W1911 just makes you weak in the knees, have a peek at this gun.
OK we all know that the whole “Collective Right” argument about the 2nd Amendment is bullshit. First just the THEORY of a “Collective Right” makes about as much sense as an MC Escher painting. Of course if you want an expert legal analysis you can read one here, don’t go looking at the biologist for that stuff.
Still the gut-wrenching stories from this post bring to mind the cries of the antis during the height of that “Collective Right” period.
“Well if you want to have guns, join the army!”
That’s the core of the “Collective Rights” argument. “A Well Regulated Militia…” means to them “A Heavily Restricted Army”.
But of course if the members of the US Armed Forces are the only ones with a 2nd Amendment right, then why is it they spend so little time actually keeping and bearing arms?
Yeah.
Gotta drop a warning on this one, its BAD!
A 10-year-old Dallas-area boy who died of dehydration after his father and stepmother kept water from him was being punished for wetting the bed, authorities say.
The boy, Johnathan James died July 25 after water was kept from him for five days while temperatures soared to 100 degrees or more each day, police said. The boy’s dad, Michael Ray James, and stepmother, Tina Alberson, both 42, were jailed after being charged Thursday with injury to a child causing serious bodily injury.
Brutal! Dehydration is a HORRIBLE and very painful way to die, and over wetting the bed? Bed wetting isn’t even a conscious act. If anybody can remember that childhood horror, and the shame and embarrassment, there is nobody who will say that bed wetting is intentional.
The murder of this child WAS intentional, and the fact that no gun was used doesn’t make it any less brutal. I’ll dare to say that these monsters would be hard pressed to top their brutality with a gun.
Remember that next time somebody uses the metric of “Gun Death”.

I also picked the fire selector shirt, because A) It was Cool, and B) We don’t see much of the California Flag on the East coast.
I dig the design as any gunnie will recognize the image, but most antis will probably be totally baffled.
The Shirt is lightweight, and as others have said VERY soft. Also its a nice fit. Mine is an XL and it fits perfectly and runs a little long in the waist which is better than a little short. Sofar I love it!
Also, it has a neat little tag on the hemline:
