So the Mrs. came home, and we had dinner and talked about her epilepsy. She’s doing MUCH better, and I imagine its only a matter of time before these transient side effects vanish.
Things are looking really good, and she’s feeling pretty good about stuff. More after the Doctor Visit tomorrow morning! 😀
So I’m getting my alergy shot right now and I noticed everybody in the waiting room is tinkering with one form of smart-phone or another.
So I pulled out my own phone and blogged about it.

I’m no expert in Massachusetts gun laws. Well because nobody is. Ask 5 different people about some minutia and you’ll get 5 different answers.
I’m curious if the 12 shot cylender on this US Firearms 12/22 revolver counts as a “Large Capacity feeding Device”. (Irrelevant as I doubt US Firearms will submit units for Massachusetts “Safety Testing”) Single-Action revolvers don’t interest me much so I’m not sure if the 10-shot Single Ten pictured above in the link is approved for Massachusetts sale, honestly just THINKING about working that ejector 10 times (let alone 12) makes my teeth grind. Most of the time if you hand me a single-action revolver, unless its a Schofield I’ll thank you for letting me shoot it, and hand the gun over with the empties still in the wheel.
Still I’d be interested if S&W wanted to make a Double-action in an N-Frame in .22 LR that holds 12 or more. I have a S&W 617, and its one of my favorite guns:
How stupid would it be if a 12 shot revolver (single or double) was illegal because it holds more than 10. Certainly the .22 pistols out there often hold only 10 in the box because 11 or 12 would be evil and bad.
BTW that 12 shot single looks like a GREAT gun for hunters or farmers who might need a little less gun for various things that need lead at high speed. I can imagine a hunter who might pop a few small critters while looking for bigger game, or using the .22 for a coup de grace on a downed animal, or a farmer who has pest critters around the farm.
Hell depending on your pest population you could load up your wheelie on Sunday and shoot prairie dogs, woodchucks, Coyotes and rats all week!
Also when target shooting more ammo in the wheel (or magazine) means you can get more repetitions of your shot before you need to break your concentration and reload.
And of course when it comes to a fancy new gun, what does “Need” have to do with anything?
Both of us are in the office today. The Mrs. still isn’t feeling 100%, but she’s being a trooper.

And of course “Gun Death” is only relevant for discussion, and certainly we can’t consider that maybe the departed might have lived if THEY had a gun.

I feel like Looking at the ugly underbelly of gun culture for a bit. I found this story from the an Anti-Gun twitter feed.
Jose L. Alvelo, whose address was unavailable, was awaiting arraignment late Thursday in Reading Central Court on charges of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, drug offenses and discharging a firearm in the city….Alvelo fired three shots into the ground during a confrontation with his cousin, Jose Reyes, 23, who lives in the block. No one was injured.
A pistol recovered at the scene belonged to Alvelo, who had a permit to carry the weapon.
The Antis are pumping their fists because it shows a permit holder committing a gun crime. First up nobody is saying permit holders DON’T commit crimes, just that they commit crimes at a lower rate than the general population….or the police force for that matter. (Two good data sets here and here)
So here we have an idiot with a CCW and a gun who gets in an argument, brandishes his gun and discharges it 3 times into the ground. He also had some drugs on him (obviously something he hasn’t been convicted on otherwise the permit would be invalid).
He fired 3 rounds and nobody was hurt. The drugs were discovered, and he faces multiple serious charges. For this he’s going to lose his permit, as well as all the guns he may have, and likely will never be legally allowed to touch a firearm for the remainder of his life. He very well may also face some Jail time, and certainly a healthy fine.
This is how gun control laws work. They don’t STOP anything, what they do is punish people for doing bad things. Furthermore they set guidelines for how people can conduct themselves. Permit holders commit less crimes than the general population NOT because they’re angels, but because they have more to lose from getting caught. I knew a few kids in College who got pinched for felonies. They got in drunken brawls, they got pinched dealing drugs. Minor things, as minor as felonies go. They really didn’t seem to care much, why? Because after the fines were paid and the community service was done (I think one of them spent a weekend in jail) that was it. They may have to explain to a future employer that they sold some pills while in college, but otherwise its not a huge deal.
Now take somebody like me. I’m a gun blogger, why? Because I like guns. I own guns for fun, as a collector, and for personal defense. I have lots of carry permits, and a non-trivial amount of money riding on them. I carry a gun every day because I know its a wise move.
With even the most chickenshit felony I lose ALL of that. Now some people are stupid and don’t think. They get weeded out pretty quick.
The antis look at this as a reason for MORE gun control simply because it happened. Oddly enough Murder still happens. People still buy and sell drugs. People still buy and sell sex. People still rape, and sexually assault minor children. People drive over the speed limit. People illegally sell and use firearms.
Laws don’t PREVENT crime, they simply allow us to punish people once they commit crime.
This story, as unfortunate as it is, is a success story.

Once again, Robin, you are trying to compare apples to oranges. I am blogging about gun deaths and injuries. I recognize that there is crime in every country, including our own. I advocate for non violence in general. But when comparing gun deaths, the U.S. is at the top. This is likely to take us on another walk around the block and I don’t intend to go there in the comment section. We all can agree that we need to work together to lower overall crime rates. Can we agree that part of that is working to prevent criminals with guns from shooting people? And, to repeat myself from another comment, the majority of gun homicides are domestic – either partner violence or among people who know each other rather than random.
“I advocate for non violence in general”….but I refuse to look at violence in general, instead I only talk about “Gun Death”. And note that she uses that ignorance to attempt to paint the US as a more violent country that it is, and to blame this “Problem” on our gun laws. Also Note that Joan, like all anti-rights advocates she ignores the well–documented cases of Defensive Gun Use that actually STOPS violent crimes rather than cause or enable them.

THE GUN RIGHTS lobby has spent considerable time and energy in pursuit of one goal: crippling the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). It has largely succeeded — and with dire consequences.
“Dire Consequences”? So Project Gunwalker is because they don’t have an anti-gun Chicago Zealot in the head, and the BATFE doesn’t have an unlimited budget?
Look, the ATF in its current form is an Enemy to America. Not just the Pro-gun or Right-wing America. America as a whole. The ATF was intentionally running guns into Mexico to fuel the Cartel war, killing American Border agents and countless Mexican citizens and government workers.
Before this their job was essentially wonder jobs of financially ruining Bill Akins by telling him he could produce a bump-fire stock then reneging on their approval, or sending David Olofson to Prison for owning an AR-15 that could only malfunction in a secret government lab.
Look these people aren’t stopping criminals, and they’re CAUSING “Gun Death”. This is supposedly what PEG supports. I mean they keep saying they’re not after legal gun owners, and they just want to reduce “Gun Death”.
Nope, they are specifically after lawful gun owners, and are EMPOWERING criminals to use guns for violence so they can demand the lawful citizens give up more rights.
Sorry, if you REALLY care about “Gun Death”, and support lawful gun owners then we need to disband the ATF TODAY!
The Mrs. and I called in sick from work. She was right on the bubble waking up. Decided to play it safe and have her stay home, and me to stay home just to watch over her.
This is such a pain in the ass. Still everything goes our way this will be the worst that we get.
