Joan Peterson is a Liar

Heh, so what else is new? But I just thought I’d throw this quote up for you fellas to mull over while I’m in the lab.

Absolutely. They (The members of her Church) know who I am and with whom I am associated. None of that makes a difference to them. They don’t hunt with sniper rifles. These are just regular guys who aren’t afraid of their rights being taken away. In other words, they are reasonable people. They support what I am doing 100%.And, by the way, most of them are fed up with the NRA and have nothing to do with it.

Hmmm

All images courtesy of World Guns (Which BTW has recently revamped and added to his website. Go check it out, its an awesome resource)

All of the above are rifles used by Military and Police Snipers and sharpshooters. They are also common guns used to hunt various game animals in North America.

Hell the AR platform, both the AR-15 and AR-10 pattern rifles are pretty much the #1 rifle found in the field these days because of the modular nature of the gun, the wide variability of calibers and accessories available for them, and I suspect the large amount of veterans of both Iraq wars, and the war in Afghanistan are more comfortable with a gun that is operated similar to their GI M4 and M16. Hell I was talking with a VERY liberal family member (who also happens to be a West Point grad, and combat veteran) and he said if he was going to buy a gun his first choice would be an AR-15 just because he’s logged so much time with that rifle, why learn something new that does the same job?

So of course I must put a dig in, because Joan is such a nasty person, both politically, and personally.

If she’s so full of shit about “Sniper Rifles” and her sister organization’s efforts to ban them. Do you think she’s correct that the members of her Church are supportive of her anti-rights efforts?

If I had to guess, Joan is the type of person where everybody is warned to “Not get her started” at social gatherings. This is just speculation, but I’ll note that I have a LOT of very far-left family members, and I know when they’re just attempting to end a discussion, and I don’t take that as them ceding to my argument.

But then again, I’m actually pretty open about discussing issues with people with differing opinions….

  1. Here’s what Wikipedia has to say about Carlos Hathcock, famous Marine sniper

Hathcock generally used the standard sniper rifle: the Winchester Model 70 .30-06 caliber rifle with the standard 8-power Unertl scope.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carlos_Hathcock#Marine_Corps_career

Strangely enough, after WWII, my Grandfather purchased the exact same rifle, a Winchester Model 70, for hunting deer. About the time that Gunny Hathcock was killing communists, he put a Redfield 3×9 scope on his deer rifle. When he died, my father got that rifle. It’ll be mine next. (but not soon, I hope)

So yes, most hunters use sniper rifles to hunt for deer.

I wonder what denomination she belongs to. Universalist, probably. Definitely not my church up here in MT…

    • Weerd Beard says:

Well she’s in Minneapolis, which from what I hear is up there with Madison WI, or Berkeley CA, or our beloved Cambridge MA. So the denomination of ghe church is likely irrelevant, and her statement that her Parish is very lefty is also likely true, but I’m curious how much sympathy she gets from avid hunters who have likely forgot more than Joan ever knew about guns…and that’s not saying much given that her knowledge of guns doesn’t even include which end the bullet comes out of.

  3. Bob S. says:

They don’t hunt with sniper rifles.

When I read ‘sniper rifle’, I flashed back to her comments about the Beltway Snipers. Wonder who is trying to get their way by generating fear.

Then she goes on to try to demonize her opponents

In other words, they are reasonable people

The implicit statement being anyone who doesn’t believe her or buy her line of bull isn’t reasonable.

I just wonder what firearms she owns and if any of them are sniper rifles.

She and her husband own guns and come from a hunting family. They keep the guns locked in a metal safe.

If they own hunting rifles, then they own ‘sniper rifles’, don’t they?

    • Weerd Beard says:

And the “Beltway Snipers” used a Bushmaster rifle and either iron sights or close combat optics, and all of their shot were inside 100 yards. Hardly worthy of the “Sniper” designation.

      All fear and lies.

    • Linoge says:

If they own hunting rifles, then they own ‘sniper rifles’, don’t they?

Well, that all depends on whether we are talking about shotguns or rifles. If the latter, then, yes, Joan Peterson owns sniper rifles. If the former, then Joan Peterson owns street-sweeping, roomfull-of-children-killing, spray-fire-from-the-hip personal artillery.

Either way, the woman is a blazing hypocrite.

  4. RuffRidr says:

Nonsense! Rifles that could be considered “sniper rifles” are used for hunting all of the time. But then again, why are we taking hunting advice from someone who said she used to hunt quail with a .22 gauge shotgun?

  5. Linoge says:

The simple truth is that almost all modern hunting cartridges (with the exception of .22, .17, and so forth) can defeat at least one level of body armor, and most can defeat almost all levels of body armor – this is further accentuated by most police departments not purchasing the highest grades of armor, both for cost and weight considerations.

Additionally, almost all of those cartridges (with the exception of the .22 and maybe others) are acceptably accurate out to at least 100 yards, and most to 500 and beyond… and this can generally be accomplished with off-the-shelf firearms and ammunition. Custom gunsmithing and handloads just makes them all the better.

And, finally, all hunting rifles are capable of mounting telescopic scopes.

Using those simple metrics, nearly every hunting firearm sold today is a “sniper rifle”, and thus something Joan Peterson’s good buddies want to ban. Her claiming otherwise is, in the favorite word of the anti-rights nuts these days, “disingenuous”.

  6. Nonsense!!

I think all posts about Joan should start and end with this word.

    Nonsense!!
