More Anti-Gun Projection

Joan Peterson of the Brady Campaign, Million Mom March, and The Joyce Foundation has a Post up about her meeting with Mary McFate.

Overall I have little issue with what Ms. McFate did, she didn’t commit a crime for joining the Brady Campaign, and as an NRA Member she was already Persona Non-Grata anyway. Still this comment amused me from Joan.

She, of course, was quite interested in what I was doing back home in Minnesota and so I told her about some of our ideas and our campaign. She thought they were good ideas actually. She was also interested in my personal story which I now know was a totally insincere and cynical ploy on her part to prey on victims.

Rather Ironic as Joan constantly trumpets the Death of her sister, and often juxtaposes that crime when talking about laws that would have done NOTHING to have saved her sister.

Same with Sarah Brady using the injury of her husband James to push the Brady Bill, and the Federal Assault Weapons ban. Neither of which would have stopped John Hinkley.

Same with Collin Goddard who uses the death of his fellow students, and his personal injuries to push laws that would leave us all as defenseless as him if we were involved in a similar attack.

Was McFate really “preying on Victims” or simply exposing hucksters at their scams?

Oh one more money-quote from Joan in the comments:

We are pretty “what you see is what you get” sort of people.” I can tell you for sure that we are NOT trying to infiltrate the NRA. That is just total nonsense.

I believe that, they don’t have the people to spare to sever ties with and send them into the NRA.

Also given that ANYBODY can Join the NRA, hell I heard a few gun bloggers gave Guy Cabot a gift-membership to the NRA just to annoy him. The NRA is an open organization, while the Brady Campaign is a closed organization that only invites people to join, and asks the rest to send money.

I find it ironic that we are supposed to give the Joan Peterson’s and the Marsha McCartney’s the benefit of the doubt. Asking them what they meant, like in the recent suppressor comment issue.

Yet, I haven’t heard or read of a single Brady Campaign board member or volunteer reaching out to Mary McFate. Not one of them tried to find out what was true and what was false in her statements.

Joan Peterson certainly didn’t seem willing to find out of the sentiments about her sister were sincere or not.

I also find it absolutely ironic that Joan Peterson gives Mikeb302000 a forum for his comments such as the ones proposing the government has the power to invade our privacy by requiring not only background checks, finger prints, mental health evaluations and home inspections.

So, she either approves or doesn’t mind those requirements but she gets upset that the NRA had someone join a public organization?

I most certainly did. It pissed him off so much that he tried to get me arrested for Identity Theft and Mail Fraud. He thought I had posed as him and joined the NRA, when in reality I had used my current membership ID to buy him a one year gift membership.

But, y’see, Joan is not being victimized… she volunteered to be the blood that the Brady Bunch dances in, and is proud of it!

It is different. Just like guns are different. Duh.

I believe that, they don’t have the people to spare to sever ties with and send them into the NRA.

I dunno… seems like jettisoning Joan might be a positive move for the Brady Bunch…

In order to be “infiltrated”, it strikes me that the organization must, by necessity, have something to hide.

If the facts are on their side, they are being completely above board about their desires and agenda as they claim, and are only trying to “do something” about “gun violence”, then what would they possibly have to hide? “Oh noes…we have an infiltrator who is now going to tell the evil NRA of our sooper-sekrit plot to end gun violence!!!1!!”

Anybody with $35 can “infiltrate” the NRA. Big Whoop.

Heck…I hereby proffer a personal invite to any and all antis that want to “infiltrate” the VCDL. We’ll put your $25 membership dues to good use and, in return, we’ll let you in on our secret plot to expand gun rights in the state of Virginia.

    Deal?
