More Government Stupid

Armed raids on raw food sellers and farms. What’s with the drawn guns?

Is unpasteurized milk and cheese and uncooked meat more dangerous then the normal stuff you see at local big grocery chain? Yep. Is it a “Death Ray”? nope, and I’d certainly say responsibly pouring raw milk on your cornflakes every morning is probably a lot safer than smoking a pack of luckies every day. Of course you can BUY luckies….

We don’t drink a ton of Milk here, and we’ve taken to soy milk for our milk consumption because the wife prefers it and it seems to keep better. We do keep some shelf-stable milk around for cooking and such. Stuff comes in little “juice boxes” and keeps forever at room temperature. But I drank a cup of it out of curiosity and it taste like shit because of the extra processing. I’m betting raw milk tastes pretty good.

Certainly our police have better things to do than raid boutique markets….

  1. if you want to know what raw milk tastes like, try some next time you go to Pennsylvania. It’s legal to sell in PA.

The TSA cannot catch themselves a real live terrorist and never have!
Now they have the perv scanner or the gropers workinig over Americans.

SO lets try some other way to harrass and catch us some of those “trying to make a living selling food” terrorists.
Awful people and we must protect the Citizens…

  3. If I didn’t have to drive to Lebanon to get the real good milk, I’d go raw in a heartbeat. Alas, I can’t even get pasteurized but un-homogenized in my neck of the woods. Even the Co-Op in Lebanon sells mostly pateurized, but at least the butterfat isn’t beaten into stable, integrated submission.

I long for the day I can have my milk in a glass jug (glass tastes better than plastic in my opinion) with a return policy, capped with foil, cream floating on top, tasting fresh as can be outside of the farm itself. I’m tired of buying drinking milk, cream for whipping, and cream for butter seperately. Too bad more people wouldn’t agree.

A bunch of people around here are to the point in the “it’s for your health” line that they are paranoid about ceasar dressing, mayo, letting kids drink fresh milk from a cow when visiting a farm, egg nog, any beef done less than medium-rare, and whatnot. If I had more land, I’d buy a couple of cows, it would be worth the effort.

However, both of my parents and most in their generation vastly prefer today’s milk to the raw milk of their era. I guess these things skip a generation, my grandparents and I all love it raw.
