Full-Auto Stupid

Story Here

Police locked down the Albany campus of Linn-Benton Community College after getting reports of a man wearing full military camoflauge running along the streets firing a rifle…Police said the boys had just watched “Heartbreak Ridge” and were playing with a replica M60. The gun was painted black but had an orange tip on the barrel.

Kids playing with toys. I’ll note that we used to play with toy guns all the time, often on public land, and this was before the law mandated that orange tip nonsense.

Of course this is Albany NY where they clamp down on gun owners with an iron fist, (Sorry its inOregon -Management) and instill irrational fears in the mushy skulls of the “Progressive” residents.

Kids playing….and adult children shitting their pants.

I have seen the face of our enemy… and that is it.

Sigh! I wonder what they would do today if they saw me loading and unloading my High School’s Rifle Team Weapons into the school like we used to do back in the 70’s? The only good news about this story is that the Cops showed more restraint in Albany than they did in Tucson.

Of course, since some Adult had to buy those kids all that Camo and Web Gear, I’m sure some Nanny Stater will try to get the Parents on “Child Endangerment” or some similar nonsense.

When we were kids, we were frequently found in the back woods wearing camo and camo-ish things playing with toy firearms that were hardly distinguished from the real thing and never had orange tips (mainly because we took them off / painted over them if they came with them).

And when the cops cruised by on their rounds (something that almost never seems to happen any more), they smiled, waved, and kept on rolling.

When my father was in college at Georgia Tech (my alma mater as well), there was a 1911 range under the stadium they used when in NROTC, and they drilled with honest-to-god rifles with their bolts removed (though after a few drops, God alone knows how useful they would be). And no one really cared.

We really have declined as a society.

They specifically said the kid was running down the street firing and yet it was a toy, so it wasn’t making nearly enough noise…
I mean maybe they could sorta think that guns aren’t very noisy, but even still that’s a huge stretch.

Of course this is Albany NY

Uhhh, that’s Albany Oregon. Willamette Valley, between Salem and Eugene.

The only thing that scares them more than guns is the idea that one of them will grow up to be Gunny Highway. If they could stand to watch the movie, I think the PSH’ers would never understand it. “But the Recon Patrol had such high self-esteem!” and “Major Powers seemed like a good officer to me! The paperwork is important!” they would say. Ironic…

In my highschool, we reloaded 12Ga rounds and shot skeet with the coaches as part of a required course our freshman year. This was just back in the 90s.

    I weep for our country.

  9. mariner says:

Notice that some of the people who called police lied: there’s no way those kids made noises that a reasonable person could interpret as gunfire. But I guess people carrying weapons won’t get the same police response as people FIRING weapons.

Who wants to wager on the possibility of charges for making false reports to police?

Sheep have two speeds, graze and stampede.

As for false-reports charges, why would they charge the sheep for being GOOD sheep. Last thing you want is thinking residents, as thinking people don’t like police states, or overreach of authority.
