So MKS wrote a really dumb press release. A bunch of bloggers chattered about it, but Jake was one of the first people I saw to actually write them.
Looks like MKS has responded to Jake. Go have a read. In a world where dumb statements are defended with non-apologies and non-committal responses, this one does strike me as quite sincere.

Got the same email myself. I am willing to accept it as an apology, given that it hits the high points – taking responsibility, admission of wrongdoing, and a promise not to do it again.
People screw up. I say stupid things all of the time. The key is to own it and sincerely say you didn’t mean it the way it sounded. Then, it doesn’t draw out the drama and people know where you really stand. Kudos to him. Hopefully, this gets as much play as the original press release. Somehow, I doubt it will.
