Open Your Damn Ears!

So Miguel reads about an Anti on Facebook who is making up stories in attempt to shut down a shooting range. Sebastian breaches the discussion about anti-gun yuppies buying houses within earshot of gun ranges and clubs and getting butthurt about it.

First up I believe its law to disclose any such disturbances to all potential buyers. I know when I was looking at houses the agents told me all sorts of silly things about the various houses, I know I had to sign a paper with some of the known issues with my neighborhood written on it.

Still I talked to my potential neighbors and asked them about various issues, and any concerns.

Still there’s a well-known Massachusetts story where a gun range that had been active for over 100 years became the object of ire of a resident that had moved there a year before.

This person was so pissed that they could hear muffled gun-fire (honestly once you’re a few hundred yards away from a shooting range it gets pretty quiet pretty quick) that they (illegally because they did not have a Mass FID) bought a box of .22 rimfire ammo, and threw the bullet on his roof, then called the cops to say he’d heard rounds strike his house.

The police retrieved the “Evidence” and informed the home owner that A) The Firing line faced AWAY from his house, and for him to take fire somebody had to be shooting the opposite direction, and B) that the bullet they had retrieved were still crimped in their casings and were at that time still unfired.

Nothing will stand in the way of those who hate freedom!

Did they tell him C) He was going to jail for being in illegal possession of ammunition? Make the horrid system work for you?

Or at least charge him with filing a false report?

One of the ranges out by my parents is having a similar problem… The neighborhoods that sprang up around it do not like it predating them, so one of the “aggrieved” parties’ “solutions” was to build a bike trail directly behind the range and then call the cops when “bullets [predictably] went whistling over his head”. Unfortunately for him, the land behind the range is DNR property, and he did not have permission to put the trail there (go figure), and that was tossed. Unfortunately for the range, that setback has not stopped him and his ilk, and they are still trying to bring legal weight to bear on the range to get it shut down.

Folks, if you do not like the noise, do not buy near a range.

Or, better yet, lobby for the removal of suppressors from the NFA! 😉

Where have we seen this kind of logic before?

Whatever kind of gun can do that needs to be banned immediately!
