So Jay has a picture up of his new T&E Ruger SR9c (Personally I see it as “neither fish nor fowl” as I can carry a much bigger gun that than in the same fashion, but I can’t pocket a gun that big…but if you’re smaller than me it might be just the ticket).

I was curious what the Magazine capacity was so I did a quick search and was surprised to find this.

I haven’t used overstock.com in years, and when I did I was buying computer parts, electronics, and home goods there. I’m quite impressed at the volume of gun parts and gear. They’re no Midway or Brownells…still if you’re buying OTHER stuff and want to toss in some gunnie gear, you’re paying the shipping anyway….

I may think about grabbing a Wilson Elite Tactical magazine just to see how it compares to the legendary 47D

  1. I have found that guns that fall between the pocket size and the full size, for me anyway, are uncomfortable to carry. I generally carry IWB, right hip. For instance, I often carry a Walther P99. It’s considered a full size gun although I think of it as on the smaller end of full size. I also own a Taurus PT-145 which is a compact gun, although not as small as some of the more recent compact designs. I almost never carry the 145 because it has a much shorter slide/barrel and always feels like it’s falling out of my waist band where the P99 with it’s longer slide/barrel just stays put.

I love me my SD9 sub compact–but it is 13+1, which makes a better case for such small things. I know that I could probably conceal a larger handgun nearly as easily and etc. etc., but in the end this is the one that I liked and wanted. And there is something to be said for that, as well.

    1. Thanks for the linky love, Weerd! I have other new items you might be interested in as well – think it might be time for another range trip?!?!?

    2. The SR9c, don’t forget, holds 17 rounds in free states. That’s a HUGE improvement over the LC9 insofar as capacity (I fully intend to make that distinction crystal clear in the full review). For three rounds, you’re absolutely right – it doesn’t make a lot of sense to choose the SR9c over the LC9. For 10 rounds, though…

    3. I just bought a 6.5-20X Barska scope from Amazon for less than I paid for the 2.5-10X scope that’s on my VEPR from MidwayUSA (who have *excellent* prices, mind you). And Amazon gave free shipping!

Yeah I’m mostly free this weekend, we’ll talk.

For the “Fish nor fowl” I just mean it fits in my book as bigger than a backup gun (Ie J-Frame, PM45, P9, LC9 ect or Smaller) but smaller than a full-size gun.

That might be the magic sweet spot for some body types or carry methods, but for me I’d rather carry a bigger gun, or a smaller gun in a more discreet location.

    I would never have thought! A Sig Pro-MAg 10-rounder for $30? and a Kimber Pro Tac-Mag for $27.49? That’s cheaper than Midway…

Though interesting point – maybe I was not looking carefully enough, but I did not see a single magazine over 10 rounds in capacity.
