9-Year-Old Falls without “Gun Violence”

Thanks to Bob for sending this one.

A 9-year-old girl whose body was found in the basement of a vacant Colorado house may have been beaten and allowed to linger near death for two days before possibly being buried alive, according to an arrest affidavit.

Monique Lynch, 29, the girlfriend of the girl’s father, was charged Wednesday with first-degree murder.

Lynch and Hanif Sims, 29, the girl’s father, were also charged with child abuse resulting in death, concealing a body and tampering with evidence.

Disgusting case, but you’ll note nobody used a gun. Another case that is seen as a victory by our friendly anti-freedom advocates.

Good Lord… While we were watching Persons Unknown a few days ago (wierd show, by the by), my wife asked what was wrong iwht one of the characters – violent, aggressive, abusive, with no real regard for human decency or even life. The best response I could come up with is that there are just people like that… and the girlfriend in this case certainly highlights that reality disgustingly perfectly.

There are people in this world, a lot of people, who are just wrong, and, sometimes, those people will come after you and your family. “Giving them what they want” does not work so well when they want to kill you… or other things.

I read a book “The Psychopath Next Door” a while back — an excellent read by the way, and one statistic really stuck with me.

Approximately 4% of the American population does not have what we call a “conscious”. Whatever internal filter most of us have that tells us right from wrong, these folks are missing.

Most learn to disguise it, work around it, approximate something like it — those are the ones that abide by the law but are ruthless in their business or personal life.

Others — well, you’ve read the stories — the ones you ask “How could anyone do that?”
