Anti-Gun Media

This story came up durring last night’s Vicious Circle.

The Maine gun plant that produced the semiautomatic rifle used by the Beltway snipers will close, putting about 70 people out of work.

North Carolina-based Freedom Group announced Friday it’s closing the Bushmaster Firearms plant in Windham. The company said production will be moved to other plants owned by Freedom Group, which is the parent company of Remington, Marlin Firearms and Dakota Arms, along with Bushmaster.

The Windham plant will close on March 31.

Bushmaster is one of the largest producers of the civilian version of the M-16 rifle. A Bushmaster XM-15 was used by John Allen Muhammad and his teenage accomplice in a three-week spree in 2002 across Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. Mohammad was executed in November 2009.

That’s some HORRIBLE writing right there. I know several people who used to work for Bushmaster, and many people who own various pieces of Bushmaster firearms. Always sad to hear about a plant closing, especially one in Main that I know well. Its even sadder to read such a horrible and biased article.

As far as I know, Bushmaster was not called to pay any sums or settlements because Muhammad and Malvo used one of their rifles to commit crimes. So that case has NOTHING to do with the plant closure (I suspect the Bushmaster ACR recall has more to do with it) but somehow the “Beltway Sniper” is the majority of this post.

Stupid!

  1. Quite obvious that the writer wanted to add “OMG Teh gunz are teh EVIL” to this story.

Today Mrs. Beth Jones celebrated her 104th birthday with her large family, including her 78 year old daughter who shares the same birthday. All of the family members enjoyed the large cake that was decorated with 182 lit candles. The cake was a bright symbol of love and family. The eternal spirit was symbolized by flame.

The same flame that arsonists use to burn down her house in 2006, killing her husband. The evil fire. Evil.

    🙂

Weer’d, Bushmaster *did* pay a settlement for the Mohammed/Malvo gun. There was a lot of animosity over that one, BM was the only gun manufacturer to settle based on the simple involvement of their product in a shooting.

BM’s answer was they were too small of a company to fight it in court, and it was easier to just write a check.

Oh, maybe I didn’t have my facts straight. Were the multiple suits? Because There was one suit where Bushy was represented by a Portland Firm that I know a few people in, and I thought that case was dismissed.

It is a shame if Bushmaster DID pay ANYTHING, both in justice, and in court precedent. You don’t see auto makers or booze makers taken to court over drunk driving deaths…
