Gun Death? Odd Eddition

So I have a few odd stories for this latest edition to “Gun Death?”

First was sent to me by Buddy Bob S. who saw it on the local news:

A 31-year-old man was stabbed to death Friday night after he assaulted a uniformed security guard who was patrolling an apartment complex near 9000 Randol Mill and Mill Valley in east Fort Worth.

Williams reportedly attacked the 22-year-old guard by punching him in the head and knocking him to the ground where he continued to fight him. Witnesses told police that Musick was defending himself when he retrieved his small pocket-knife and stabbed Williams to get him off of him. Police said Musick is much smaller than Williams.

Kind of a reverse of the standard story, instead this security guard had NO defensive arms against people who had it out for him. Note this story was sparked because the dead man was pissed that the security guard had been doing his job.

I will say a “Pocket Knife” is a bad choice for a defensive arm, tho it beats bare hands in many applications. That being said I use my pocket knife all day long for various things from trimming my nails to breaking down boxes, chances are when I might need it to fend off an attacker it’ll be as dull as a butter knife…also the shape of most pocket knives leaves little protection from your hands sliding down the blade. When I’m in a location that precludes me from carrying a gun I carry one of these as a dedicated defensive knife. I also recently saw this and thought it might be a hot-ticket as a dedicated defensive knife. And you’ll note that the price won’t break anybody’s bank.

Still is it BETTER that the SECURITY guard had to draw a lesser weapon to defend himself? Is it important that this case NOT be a “Gun Death”?

Second Story I heard on the news and KNEW it had to come here:

Police are investigating an alleged assault inside San Diego Comic-Con’s 6,000-person Hall H that occurred today around 5 p.m. PST. According to San Diego police, one man stabbed another in the face near the eye in a dispute over seating near the rear of the hall. Police say attendees subdued the attacker, who was arrested without further incident

Sounds like from further research the victim is OK. Still not too hard to kill somebody with a pen or pencil. Even easier to blind them. But hey he didn’t use a gun right, so Its OK, right?

Just thought I’d share those two with you.

I go with something 4 and 3/4″, city places usually a clip in pocket assisted opening folder. Out around home, fixed blade on belt.
Picked up one of these lately, Texas Penal Code Compliant…

Reckon that’d be against some Mass law, right?

Honestly reading the knife laws anything but my keychain is illegal here. Doesn’t slow me much, and if they want to try and charge me for packing one of my EDC folders I’ll see if I can give them more trouble than they have stomach for.

That being said 4″ single-edge fixed blade, nothing unreasonable about that fine implement!
