OH NO!!!!

This is SO LAME!!!

New Zealand — Hollywood director Guillermo del Toro said Monday that production delays have forced him to quit the planned film version of J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Hobbit,” a two-part prequel to New Zealand filmmaker Peter Jackson’s blockbuster trilogy “Lord of the Rings.”

“In light of ongoing delays in the setting of a start date for filming The Hobbit, I am faced with the hardest decision of my life,” del Toro told a “Lord of the Rings” fan website.

CRAP! All I could do was picture the imagery of “Pan’s Labyrinth” superimposed on Tolkien’s rich world.

Oh well, I felt Del Toro was as good a choice as Peter Jackson. We’ll see if somebody comes up to accept the project, or if it just languishes at the studio…

TWO part? I love me some Tolkien, but that seems one too many.

I dunno, Fantasy stories tend to be a little dense, by breaking it up I suspect it would give it a more natural flow.

Of course who knows until the film is made (or never made in this case…)

I caught Pan’s Labyrinth on cable and immediately bought it. Fantastic movie.
