Action and Reaction

I thought I’d expand on my comment over at Uncle’s. There has been a bit of buzz about the Taliban calling for Jihadis to buy guns at gun shows. I haven’t given it much credence because all of these fundamentalist nuts are simply propaganda artists and liars. Their goals are to manipulated uneducated and illiterate followers who only know what they have been told about the Qur’an, and of course to manipulate their enemies.

“America is absolutely awash with easily obtainable firearms. You can go down to a gun show at the local convention center and come away with a fully automatic assault rifle without a background check and most likely without having to show an identification card. So what are you waiting for?”

Anybody’s who been to a gun show know that’s horseshit. And of course if you know anything about full-auto guns, you know that its impossible to buy a select fire gun for personal use inside a few MONTHS, let alone without a background check.

As I said at Uncle’s place it reminds me of a political story that might simply be an urban legend:
A Southern Politician is running for public office. A grand Wizard of the KKK calls his office and says he likes the guy’s platform and what he stands for, then asks if he’d prefer the Klan endorse him, or his opponent.

Weather this tale is true or not is irrelevant in that we know that polarizing endorsements can lead people astray. John McCain being endorsed by the NRA might lead some to believe he is solid on the second Amendment, when he really isn’t. I could certainly see the Brady Campaign or the Joyce foundation endorsing a pro-gun candidate to cause conflict, tho I can’t see any of them having the stones to attempt such a bluff.

We talked here about how the lack of firearms ownership and self-defense rights in India in part contributed to the Mumbai Massacre, and certainly the attack and dynamics showed that strict gun control laws did nothing to hinder the terrorists from doing their dirty deeds. Read the rest of the linked news article to show the amount of anti-rights boilerplate linking gun show firearms to crimes (bullshit) and talking about putting the Terror Watch-list into NICS for denial of sales somehow doing ANY good (Double Bullshit!). The antis are using this to make political hay, but what’s the end?

If anything the terrorists want buying and carrying guns in America to be MORE difficult because the last thing they want is people shooting back, and certainly not people who aren’t uniformed police and military that can be avoided and predicted.

I think this is an intentional manipulation. Of course the best advice is to not listen to Jihadis, because they didn’t bother to tell us about 9-11 or the USS Cole why would they tell us about this?

I’m with you brother, as I mentioned yesterday. Probably not as eloquently as you did, but nonetheless…

Another possibility might be a concious effort to emulate the Brady’s and Joyce Foundation mouthpieces; make the (however erroneous) case of ease of access to firearms to their local audience and then cite any criminal use of firearms as an example of “jihad in America” to same. This “proves” the universal nature of Islam and Jihad, doesn’t it?

They’re misogynistic predators, but they’re not stupid. They are also reported to be well established in the UK university system, so access to modern western (US) political philosophy and policy tracts is readily available to jihadi supporters.

To be entirely fair, I have seen pretty much every single NFA-regulated item for sale at gun shows in Tennessee – DDs, SBSs, SBRs, suppressors, and fully-automatic firearms. HOWEVER, in every single case, the vendors/sellers made it ABUNDANTLY clear through both physical signs and verbal communications that ALL NFA regulations and requirements would be abided by, to the letter, for any transfer to take place.

Of course, if the anti-rights cultists’ argument that the Al Qaeda dumbasses are right were to hold any water, why is it that our average, every-day criminals in America are not doing what that terrorist organization proposes? Oh right…
