Beery Good Evening

Wow what a great evening, part of me is having such a good time, part of me just wants to calm the hell down and relax. But this evening Vector, Jesse and I returned to Incredibrew. We made a Pilsner and a Stout. We didn’t bother to cap two of them and split the beer, as well as shared with a gentleman who was bottling a Larger. I wasn’t a huge fan of the larger, as it was a little to smooth and mellow for my taste, but the Pilsner and Stout were AWESOME….good thing too

That’s a crapload of beer! I ended up coming home with 51 20oz beers for a grand-total of $150! So that alone is a pretty good deal to keep me in deep with beer. On top of that it was so fun working with the staff of incredibrew. They never did anything for me (except for filtering and carbonating the beer) I handled every ingredient, and manned the kettle, and filled the fermentation barrel, and then I handled every bottle and every bottle cap I bottled. So overall a neat experience at a VERY fair price, and some delicious beer!

I highly recommend them!

On top of that I had a beer chilling in my fridge when I came home:

Dinner was Ghetto Chinese food and Dogfish Head Barton Baton Oak Aged IPA.

This was a gift from Mike W. from his lovely state of Delaware. Wow! Its a very robust IPA with lots of hops, but the oak aging gives it a full-bodied richness that’s more akin to a stout on my palate. Really tasty beer!

Thanks Mike, I owe you some Shipyard Beer now!

You know, for $150 you could be pretty well set up for your own homebrewing kit, and then make a batch (around 50 bottles) whenever you wanted, for $40-$50. If you did it with friends, you could defray the costs more and still have a good time with them as you make it…

Maybe, but I think this will just be a social special occasion. I still prefer whiskey and Gin. Now if I could make THOSE I’d totally have a pot still in my garage right now!

The following statement is of course completely unrelated to what you just said, but I wanted to point out that while the price of metals is going up, copper tubing still isn’t that expensive.

No I see that as a total derail of the topic of discussion, still I see the economy of buying copper tubing as a means to swage jacketed bullets for handloading purposes! 😉
