Good News Day

Was getting a cup of tea in the galley, and I decided to take a peek at the company copy of the Boston Globe. Usually it either fills me with rage…or “Meh”. Today I saw two good stories.

First I had heard a bit of on the news wire but didn’t fully understand the time frame.

SANDWICH — A longtime employee of a Christian camp killed himself yesterday, two days after prosecutors confirmed they were investigating allegations that he sexually assaulted a camper in the mid-1980s, according to authorities.

Charles “Chuck’’ Devita was found shot to death in his red pickup truck at Camp Good News.

I don’t care who kills pedophiles so long as they die. Also I’m pleased to read that he had assumed room temperature, rather than getting parole after pleading guilty.

Second was on my radio addiction.

Jay Severin, the highly paid radio talk show host whose provocative on-air comments twice resulted in suspensions, was fired by WTKK-FM (96.9) yesterday.

I have never liked Jay Severin, in the broad picture he’s boring, and doesn’t offer any useful observations to the airwaves, making him tits-on-a-bull on talk radio. In the smaller picture he’s one of those guys who feels the need to constantly tell you how smart he is. If you know anybody like that you’ll note that if they’re lucky they’re above average, and all the real geniuses of the world tend to keep quiet about it…if not outright deny that their intellect is anything special. Also another thing he does that makes my skin crawl is his constant proclamation that he’s a “Civil Libertarian”, which consists of him carrying water for Daddy-State republicans (Specifically people like Mitt Romney) and talking a LOT about sex and drugs…more in a Howard Stern way than a Nick Gillespie sorta way.

Now I can’t promise much for WTKK, but there is an hour gap between Michael Grahm, and Howie Carr, if they offer anything that doesn’t suck in that hour I’ll listen. Still WTKK right now in their linup has a LOT of suck.

Still I was amused!
