“Gun Death” Exercise

Really this is more for a laugh than for a serious story.

An alleged Taliban commander held at the Guantanamo Bay prison camp since 2002 has died from an apparent heart attack after exercising, the Pentagon announced today.

Awal Gul, 48, collapsed in the shower Tuesday night after working out on an elliptical machine and was pronounced dead at the base hospital after “extensive life saving measures,” …The military’s announcement said he was “an admitted Taliban recruiter and commander of a military base in Jalalabad.” He also allegedly operated an al-Qaeda guesthouse and helped Osama bin Laden with operations several times.

OK I won’t lie, him dying in the shower after overdoing it on a Government-owned Elliptical Machine is better than ANY possible GSW death story possible.

OK so sometimes the tool is important!

Let’s see, I have a cheap weight bench that I bought at WalMart, and this guy works out in a gym with specialized equipment. They brought him to a base hospital, and I have to drive two towns over and wait in line for a doctor. This was bin Laden’s fucking maître d’hôtel, and we’ve been housing him, feeding him and helping him sweat to the oldies for almost a decade.

You know what? I don’t want to pay for it while the government reenacts Hogan’s Heroes down in the Caribbean. Either stick them in front of a military court, shoot them or let them go. This guy has been out of theater for nine years–there is no way that he is still holds useful intel.

I actually have a pretty bitchen Elliptical machine, and I love it, but it did cost a pretty penny, and I’m sure like in any healthclub Gitmo has a line-up of them for the denizens of Camp X-Ray.

I’m 100% on the same page as you are. Its a total waste. Pump them for information, if they have no information or nothing that is already relevant, send them home. Given that they are all non-uniformed combatants fighting a battle in complete ignorance of the Geneva Conventions we have no need to adhere to those rules.

Still have a look in the conventions what it says we can do to non-uniformed combatants. We can send them home in the cargo hold of a C-130 stacked 12-high.
