So we’re ready to leave Florida physically, but mentally we both could stand to have a few more days. When we’re down here with Pop-in-Law there aren’t any big plans, and very little structure, we do what we want and take it easy, and its a great break from the hustle and bussle.
Also the weather is amazingly good, no nasty humidity yet, and it never gets unpleasantly hot, yet the nights never get very cold. That’s gonna really hurt returning to New England.
Last night I borrowed a car and headed up to Ybor city in Tampa to have some burgers and conversation with Robb Allen and a bunch of South East Bloggers. Most I had never met before, but I was pleasantly surprised to see Unix Jedi, Dixie, and little Evie. Dixie and UJ looked about the same, but Evie was Big, and had gone totally mobile since we first met almost a year ago.
I had such an awesome time. Still a little perspective, Tampa is almost 2 hours North from Ft. Meyers. I listened to all of Vicious Circle AND The Nerdist Podcast and still had some time for music in the round trip. No press conference, no gunshow or full-auto shoot, If I increased my readership here its under 5 people (and I wouldn’t know ATM, because my sitemeter widget is down right now). I didn’t even have a beer because I knew I had a long drive and didn’t want to get sleepy. Just Burgers, conversion, and this photo

(If we had framed it better, one of us could have had an Obama halo)
Have you ever heard of an Anti-gun blogger doing this? In the Handgun Podcast Eric often says the anti-gun people want to ban guns because they don’t trust anybody, even themselves. I would add that they also don’t LIKE anybody …even themselves.
I with them, I don’t like them either! But I love my Brothers and Sisters in the gunblogs!

That’s awfully close to an “I love you, man”. You’re not drunk enough for that.
Well he wasn’t wearing pants…let’s just say I could TELL he loved me 😉 LOL!
The root beer was quite strong, perhaps a sarsaparilla high?
Glad you got to see/meet the folks. They are good people!
Judging by Robb’s face I’m wondering if YOU were the one who was pantsless Weer’d 😉
My yankee blood is too thick for that heat. Let’s just say body parts with large surface area dissipate heat VERY well. 😉
When in Rome…
Crap on a crutch… one noted anti-rights cultist literally flew halfway around the globe, and could not be bothered to drive two hours up the road just to visit with any of a number of other cultists in that range. But, then, narcissists rarely care enough about other people to actually go out of their way for them…
Looks like a good time was had by all… we are definitely going to have to figure something out for the Nashville NRA conference :).
And none of the people at the blog meet are contributors on my blog! Hell most of them don’t even comment here, not sure how many are regular readers.
Not that that makes any difference as they were all nice people to sit around, eat burgers and shoot the breeze. Since I was only down at my Father-in-laws for 4 days, I had some reservations about abandoning my host for such a short meeting that took over 6 hours. Still it was WELL worth it, and I’m glad I went.
I’ll note that said cultist couldn’t be bothered to make a 2 hour drive (or arrange a half-way meeting) on a TWO WEEK stay in the states.
Let’s just say that if I both took the time to fly to Australia AND to spend two weeks over there I’d take the time to cross the fucking Continent if need be to see Tarb and Jigsaw…because when else am I gonna be in that part of the globe?
But then again I like people….
