I Smell a Ruse

Assault weapons’ menacing looks, coupled with the public’s confusion over fully-automatic machine guns versus semi-automatic assault weapons –anything that looks like a machine gun is assumed to be a machine gun– can only increase the chance of public support for restrictions on these weapons.

That was the big lie that won the biggest win for the modern gun control movement, and also happens to be the LAST major victory for them. The Federal Assault Weapon Ban. Since this law was passed there hasn’t been a year that I haven’t encountered at least one person who thought the AWB banned Full-auto firearms. That was almost 17 years ago!! People voted for the lie, not reality.

In reading the sources for this post I’m starting to see a pattern. You’ll notice when Anti-Rights activists not only exclusively use the word “Clips”, but they also seem to focus on 30-round magazines for handguns, while pushing bans that limit magazine capacity to 10.

We need to get the word out in the debate. They are not asking who uses 30 round Glock magazines, they’re asking who’s using 30 round AR magazines, 30 round AK magazines, 20 Round FAL, magazines, 20 Round M1A magazines, but also 15 round Glock Magazines, and any other handgun who’s capacity is over 10.

You need to chime in. Do you carry a gun that holds more than 10 in the standard capacity? Do you have a nightstand gun that holds more than 10? How about a range gun?

What does your local police force carry? Chances are your local PD carries a double-stack duty pistol. (My town issues .40 Caliber Glocks, I mostly see the Glock 23, which has a standard capacity of either 13 or 15).

Don’t let them push the lie! They talk about 30 round, and 33 round, and while there’s nothing wrong with those magazines, they are talking extremes, they say 30, they want 10!

Don’t give them an inch!

The good news is that the AWB was passed 17 years ago, but it only expired seven years ago, and thus it is still relatively fresh in most people’s minds, and no one wants to return to that period of stupidity… And, in case it is not, we can always point to places like Kalifornistan and your happy state of examples of what happens when the Brady Bunch gets their way.

Really, though, if they honestly believe they are going to get even so much as a magazine restriction passed through Congress, they are out of their everloving minds.

Sadly, none of the above (though my carry gun is a double-stack, it only holds 10 rounds because it’s full of .45ACP goodness). I really need to remedy that, soon.

Some of the guns I stand to inherit eventually (hopefully in the far, far future – I’m in no rush) do hold more, though. Dad has a nice Mini-14 and several of the larger mags for it, and also a nice lever-action that I believe holds more than 10 in the tube (and would fall under McCarthy’s magazine ban).

No shame, my carry gun is a 1911, as is my night stand gun. I also carry a 5-shot wheelie. My go-to-rifle is an FAL, but my backup is an SKS with 10-shot clip-fed goodness. My shotgun holds 7+1, which is “High-capacity” because the Bradys wanted to restrict the Saiga shotgun.

I would love to have something like an XD45 as a night stand gun tho, because my PJs don’t have mag carriers.

My XD 9 subcompact holds 13+1 with the small magazine.

    • Weerd Beard says:

How big do those mags run for the full-size?

XDs are awesome on capacity without being excessively bulky.

      • bluesun says:

The full size mag is holds 16, which gives a 16+1 capacity.

And yes, I have pocket carried it (with the short magazines, of course).

I’ve always wondered how double-stacks pocket carry. How’d that go?

          • bluesun says:

Surprisingly well. I mean, I thought it was pretty bulky and suspicious looking, but I no one is ever looking for something like a gun. Besides, I usually go around with so much crap in my pockets that even if someone had noticed, they probably would have just written it off.

I usually just have it OW on my belt, though, with a button down shirt untucked over the top.

bluesun, yeah pocket carry is cool like that. Everybody carries a ton of crap in their pockets that a crazy bulge in one shouldn’t really trip any major alarms. Nor is bumping against somebody’s pocket and feeling something hard.

The only time I feel uncomfortable pocket carrying is when I have shallow pockets that lie open over the heel of the gun. I’m always worried somebody will look straight down and see the butt of the gun. That’s probably not realistic either…

How about my WWII Rock-ola M1 Carbine? Standard mags were 15 rounds.
