It CAN Happen to You

Jack comments on this story.

I’ve said it on other blog posts but this is one of the 2 Krogers near where I live.

I’ve been in that Kroger several times. Often at 6PM.

Carry your damn guns.

I know that feeling, I’ve shopped at this store many times.

I remember Mike W. had a murder up the street from his place (I can’t remember the details so I couldn’t find it, Mike).

Really many of us have had similar events, and all people cited live in good neighborhoods. Really “Bad Neighborhoods” are just neighborhoods where such things happen OFTEN, there is no such place where this happens NEVER.

BTW Jack left his comment on the post talking about the Russell Lund murders. Lund was a multi-millionaire, as well as a violent sociopath, and Barbara Lund and her boyfriend breathed their last breath in a large mansion…so even your gated communities aren’t immune from violent people with no value for human life.

And of course if you think that if said monsters are unarmed you’re safe…well you haven’t been reading close enough.

Now this post does have the “Guns” tag. Not about THEIRS, about YOURS!

Carry your gun, carry it all the time, especially carry it for quick trips to the store, and ALWAYS be aware of your surroundings.

Just because bad things don’t happen often, doesn’t mean “Never”.

As part of my Mission here at the BLNN, it is vital that I get the facts out to the rest of the world so that you and your readers can maintain a proper sense of reality in a world filled with Propaganda and Spin.

However, not everyone gets the same stories. For example, you tend to get the “None Gun Murders” and the “Weerd” news, while OldNFO tends to get Military and World Crisis updates.

But there is a disturbing trend that is affecting my and Breda’s little corner of the World that I wish to share. A few days ago, there were 5 shootings that took place about 20 miles from my house on the East Side of Cleveland, none of them related to each other. Unusually Low compared to Kabul, New York, L.A., Chicago, etc. of course, but I can usually get a shooting incident every 3-4 days from that area.

How it affects me is that, if I hit all the Red Lights, it’s only a half hour’s drive from my House. And the Goblins that have infested that neighborhood are spreading out, because there’s only so much money in that “Well.” So guess who now has to assume that as I go out and about, that my “Safe” neighborhood is as peaceful as living near the Gaza Strip.

Of course, there is always those incidents were some Guy wastes his Family while wearing a Santa Suit, but I’m more concerned about “WolfPacks” cruising into the Shopping Center where I buy Groceries than my Dad doing something Despicable.

Bottom Line: If you aren’t behind well-locked doors in your Home or somebody’s place that “Get’s it,” stepping outside w/o being Armed today is as Dangerous as Driving 90 MPH down the Wrong side of the Interstate.

The Barbarians aren’t at the Gate, they’re amongst us. Be Prepared.

Even here, even if you ignore the out-of-place instances of the cop being killed a couple of weeks ago, the beheading a couple of years ago, and the Virginia Tech massacre, it happens. Just this weekend, the Virginia Tech kicker and two others were arrested for an armed home invasion (like many here, but apparently unlike the judge, I do consider a bb gun to be “armed”). I’ve reported on other local crimes, too, including a fugitive captured very near my home.

So, yup. Just because it doesn’t happen often doesn’t mean it can’t – or won’t – happen.

My next door neighbor’s house was arson’d (though I can’t say, now that I know more about them, they weren’t asking for it). I’ve had meth heads knock on my door asking for matches. The world isn’t a happy shiny place, at least not all the time, and certainly not in all places.

  4. Jack says:

To butcher an already butchered phrase: “Is life, is not safe.”

The world is full of people perfectly willing to use force against you and yours to deprive you of your life and property.

Having the correct “hardware” AND “software” to deal with potential “unpleasantness” is part and parcel of facing up to reality.

I don’t want my last thought to be if “I only had a gun” (spits on NYS’s asinine laws). At least in that Kroger example it wouldn’t have been.
