Just Because

I have no idea why I have such a shine for these guns, but I sure do.

That’s a VZ-61 Skorpion semi-auto pistol. First made by CZ, and for a while CZ-USA was making them, but it appears now they are discontinued.

I forgot to make note, but I’m pretty sure this piece is made by Czechpoint

Seriously a MONSTER blocky handgun, and its only in .32 ACP and it only has a 20 round magazine? Still its just a neat gun. Certainly if the Hughes Amendment, or better yet the whole NFA was dissolved, I’d totally buy one of these in its original military configuration.

  1. Well in original military trim it was a closed bolt submachinegun which makes a lot more sense for it’s size.

Yeah it was designed for special police, and vehicle crews who might not have the space, or would be hindered by a carbine or even a full-size SMG, but might need more firepower than a pistol affords.

They also made them in 9×18 and 9x19mm for a good bit more punch.

Thank goodness that in this free country, we are free to choose firearms that may be completely impractical.

(but it would be shit tons of fun in the right configuration!)

  3. Tommy says:

Man, full auto 32 that’s heavy enough to be controllable one handed. I don’t know how you spell fun, but I spell it “Skorpion.”
Also, if you have a copy of the Jane’s Handgun Recognition guide from about 1997, they have a warning in the description for the Skorpion that due to the popularity of this gun in certain unfavorable circles, the military and police of several countries have authority to shoot on sight anyone carrying one.
    Now THAT’S a pedigree!
    😀
