Obama’s Birth Cetificate

CNN has a scan of it.

Anything can be faked, but I will say that looks quite legit, also I see nothing embarrassing or amiss. The only odd thing is the use of the term “African” as a race. In the 60s wasn’t the official term “Negro” or if the doctor was old fashioned “Colored”?

I apologize to our President, and to his family for any false statements made on the Weer’d World Blog. Those posts will remain, but I will add a link to this post on the two I’m aware of that speak of our President and his missing Birth Certificate.

I will ask: “What took you so long?” Seriously, I can get a notarized copy of my Birth Certificate inside the hour if demanded, inside of a week if something happened to the copy I keep in my personal files. Also I do strongly support mandates to present positive ID for offices and acts that are specific to citizens vs. Aliens. I don’t have a copy of my Birth Certificate to prove a point, I have one because I need to show the damn thing from time-to-time. I certainly think that anybody who is running for public office, and specifically for a national office that requires citizenship (natural or otherwise) should damn well have to file their Birth Certificate where the citizens who are voting can access it (redacted if necessary).

So there it is. Frankly I’m a little bit glad to see it, because while I don’t much care for our current president, I really didn’t like the idea of what might come if it turned out this President was indeed illegally holding office.

I don’t think there was ever much doubt as his mother was a Citizen, just no proof.

My big question now is why now? What does he gain by release of this info? It was making the Republicans look like fools to keep it hidden while they ranted and raved over it and this had to be winning him some independents. . .

    What does he gain???

My thoughts exactly. Also how rude. I needed to present my Birth Cert to get my Driver’s license, my Passport, but suddenly asking the President of the United States (or better yet a candidate) to present the same document to run for an office far more restrictive, is pretty darn rood, and reeks or Aristocratic arrogance.

One possible answer to JD’s question above.

I was not / am not a birther, but this document is hokey at best. Text isn’t aligned, as would happen naturally with a typewriter. The PDF file released by the white house isn’t just a scan – it was generated in illustrator. There is no justifiable reason for this document to have multiple layers. Use of the word “African” is highly suspect.

We were told it didn’t exist, now it has been produced. Meh.
