OH WOW!

Been a while since I’ve seen a movie trailer that got me excited. Even the new Hobit movie doesn’t interest me that much as the book always struck me as a Prequel that was never meant to have a sequel. But THIS excites me!

WOW!

    DOOD!

An Alien movie without Weaver, with Scott?

    I am _SO_ in!

    • Weerd Beard says:

Yeah I’ve been SO ready for them to write Ripley off the series. She was really good for 2.75 Alien movies (I’m a HUGE fan of 3, and I will fight anybody over it! But I hated the dickery with the Alien biology, and the shitty ending)

      I’m excited.

      • Pyrotek85 says:

I like the 3rd one as well, but I can understand why others don’t given how it’s different. I just pray they don’t ruin this movie somehow.

  3. thirdpower says:

Well it can’t be any worse than the various crap post Aliens sequels.

    • Weerd Beard says:

OH SHIT! I hated the end, but Alien3 Was fucking awesome.

      Shut yer whore mouth~!

      • McThag says:

I can see that de nile is not just a river in Egypt.

        • Weerd Beard says:

Hey, it was a David Fincher film! How can a reasonable person argue with that?

Plus the whole Prison Planet with dangerous convicts vs. a dangerous beast. That is pure good story!

Also Charles Dance. LOVE me some Charles Dance, and the part of Dr. Clemons was his best film role.

          • McThag says:

Prison planet, one not so hot anymore girl, PG13 rating.

            The WRONG just clings.

The effect that Weaver had on the promise of the original story is why 3 is unforgiven. I wanted the movie that was going to made before someone decided she HAD to be in it and before she HAD to have creative control.

We’d all be talking about how great 3 was if they’d just left her career in its doldrums where it belonged.

      • thirdpower says:

Bring it on Beard Boy. 3 Sucked almost as much as Highlander 2. Eat that soup out of your facial fungus.

  4. Miguel says:

Uh Oh…. Bad feeling about this one. It is an almost perfect copy of the Alien trailer, sound included.

    I hope I am wrong.

    • Weerd Beard says:

Its VERY close. I see that as nothing wrong as its been 32 years, time to remind the old fans of the past good, and get the new fans in the right mood.

Its also the same studio and same director. Also if it turns out be be a slightly newer re-tread…well I’ll watch that too.

  5. Miguel says:

You calling me old fart? LOL
I did see the Alien trailer in the movie theater when it came out. To this day I consider it the best ever made.

Prometheus is Alien for this century? If so I stand corrected.

  6. Miguel says:

    OK, Found this in IMDB.

Was originally intended as a prequel to Ridley Scott’s Alien, but Scott decided to turn it into an original film with Noomi Rapace (who was already set to star in the prequel) still in the cast as one of five main characters. Some time later however it was confirmed that while the movie will take place in the same universe as Alien, and greatly reference that movie, it will, for the bigger part, be an original movie and not a direct prequel.

    I can buy that.

    Alien….ROCKED!

    Aliens…..Rocked harder!

Aliens III……do we really want to rehash the suckage on time lines, biology, opportunity for infestation, etc? The plot should have had them on a space station around Earth…and Ripley hitting self destruct on the station…Last line: “We have to nuke them in orbit. Its the ONLY way to make sure.” and pushes the button.

Aliens IV……kinda rocked. The mercenaries were great. The alien Ripley was good. The ending sucked vacuum. Well, except for the crash….. THAT was great!

What I find most interesting about the Alien universe is the existence of such a huge military presence. COLONIAL Marines? Or the huge science ship that the military has in IV? The only reason that one has a huge military is because of a military need. Since they want the aliens as weapons……and don’t see them as a real threat…..WHO is the enemy?

    • Weerd Beard says:

BTW did you know that the 4th Film was written by Joss Whedon? That essentially make the Betty and Crew kinda a Proto-Serenity.

The military on the Science Station is different than the military that the Colonial Marines belong to (but it isn’t explained much further than that). That being said the space controlled by humans in the series is HUGE, and it certainly appears that the Colonial Marines, as well as the Shipping Company that owns the Nostromo was HEAVILY controlled by Weyland Yutani. Of course Weyland Yutani is the REAL enemy in all the films, the question of who they may turn the Aliens against…maybe there are other Mega-Corps in the Universe that WY would rather not exist….

      • Pyrotek85 says:

Yeah I got the impression that the enemy was other humans in the form of Corporate-government entities of some kind (foreshadowing maybe, with the way our country is atm?) I’m pretty sure that in the first Alien movie they mentioned that they had never discovered any alien lifeforms at all prior to the xenomorphs and space jockey wreckage.

  8. avidus says:

The original script for the third film was written by William Gibson of Neuromancer fame and inventor of Cyberpunk.

    It’s amazing.

Hicks isn’t killed off. We’re not on a prison planet. And the ending is quite good. It’s an utter shame they circular filed it – I still haven’t come across the reason. And while I’m a big Joss Whedon fan I think it was all down hill since Aliens.

    • Cargosquid says:

The comic that came out after Aliens was great.

Newt ends up in a psych ward/orphanage.
      Ripley..dead end job.
      Hicks….still a corporal….military won’t let him leave but won’t advance him.

Aliens are encountered again. Ripley’s expertise is needed. She finds Hicks. They rescue Newt. Everybody has great lines.

Long story short…aliens everywhere. Religions form. Death. Destruction. Wild parties. Source of aliens found.

Lots of explosions, death, intrigue. Fun cheerful comic.

    • Cargosquid says:

      Just read the script.

      Great script.

Except that he changed the biology of the aliens too much. Spores? If that was the case, then everyone would have been infected in the first two movies.

The problem is that you have to figure out how to get more aliens involved after Aliens II and if you insist that it has to be a sequel to that movie, you have to fudge the time line.

Cloning from alien material is a solution, which they used, but then he added the spores.

  9. Linoge says:

An updated Alien with next-gen graphics? Might just be the best birthday present ever!
