Play Me Out, Chevis Regal

Stopped by the Liquor store on my way home from Vermont. Picked up among other things a bottle of Chevis Regal. Now its hardly the worlds greatest scotch, but its tasty and relatively inexpensive. Makes for good sipping scotch, and if I feel the need to drop in some ice cubes or a dash of bitters I won’t feel like I’m adulterating some good single-malt.

Also on an interesting side note its allegedly the drink that Fat Teddy Kennedy was smashed on when he rolled his Delmont 88 into Poucha Pond, killing Mary Jo Kopechne.

Still whenever I think of Chevis Regal, I think of this song:

Red Pants and the Sugarman in, the Temple Street gloom,
drinkin’ chivas regal in a four dollar room,
just another dead soldier in a powder blue night,
sugarman says baby everything’s alright,
goin’ downtown down downtown.

I agree that Chivas is inexpensive, and you could do worse, like a plastic bottle of McGregor… but I have a hard time sipping Chivas. That is what I get from spending far too much money on more expensive single malts.

Unfortunately, Chevis Regal has played me out too many times.
