Self Defense Dead in the British Police State

The anti-rights fools point out that guns aren’t banned in the UK because you can select from a meager selection of shotguns, and .22 rifles. I think anybody rational knows what that is. Also the gun owners are subjected to registration, taxation, and restriction.

Of course the guns are nothing more than expensive playthings of the upper crust. They are for play and play alone. Shooting of game animals, and shooting gun games. And not even the “Gun Games” we readily think of. No IPSC, IDPA, or 3 Gun. No they have clay shooting, and target shooting, and that’s about it. Shoot somebody, even an armed intruder in your home and you’re going to go to jail, and probably for longer than the criminal you shot.

That’s almost understandable. Guns are treated differently than other items in the UK, and gun owners are treated differently, so its no surprise that criminal investigations involving guns, and gun owners would be treated differently by the law.

Of course its worse than that. Kevin has written about the foolishness of “Offensive Weapons” on his blog. The definition appears to be “Any item you carry because it can be used as a weapon”. Several years ago a man was jailed because after being mugged on his normal walk he took to carrying a glass milk bottle. When he was mugged again he clocked the chap with the bottle in self defense.

The courts ruled that because the bottle was being carried as a weapon and not as a milk container, he deserved some time in jail for defending himself. Kevin has several others listed just in case you think I’m kidding.

Yep from my readings, and direct talk to British subjects, if you’re attacked you DO have a right to defend yourself…it just needs to be done with hands-and-feet, or an improvised weapon, ie a rock or a stick found on the ground, or maybe a woman’s purse that is indeed used to carry goods and has not been “weaponized” in any way.

But wait, it gets worse. I just read this story over at Traction Control.

A wealthy family man was arrested on suspicion of murder yesterday after allegedly stabbing a burglar to death with his own knife has been bailed until mid-October.

So have it. You have to scroll though ACRES of drivel about what a good boy the armed intruder was before you get to this single line:

Chief Superintendent Tim Forber of Greater Manchester Police said: ‘We believe the dead man was one of two men who were attempting to carry out a burglary at the house.’

OK so we have MULTIPLE intruders, armed (of course in the UK its illegal to carry a knife around, so armed with illegal weapons at that!) and attacking a home owner IN HIS HOME! One of the thugs gets stabbed WITH HIS OWN KNIFE, and the homeowner is JAILED!

Sorry, this is about as clean a case as they come, and again he’s not yet convicted, but the charges are still MURDER.

Maybe this will get ruled a wrongful miscarriage of justice, but if it doesn’t it would appear that in the British Police State if you are attacked, you are obligated to die politely.

That is one way to solve the problem that Great Briton has Become. After a few generations of this nonsense there won’t be anything left and maybe the United States can buy it cheap. Be kinda cool if the River Thames flowed through the state of New Rhode Island.

I’m just sayin’

From my extensive exchanges with Tim Lambert, if the homeowner stabbed the deceased in the back, well then it was murder! But if he was stabbed in the chest, maybe not. If he was stabbed outside, it was murder, but otherwise, maybe not.

But, once again, a group of people will, in calm contemplation, consider the actions of a homeowner under the most extreme stress and decided whether the homeowner had, even for a moment, an intention to cause serious bodily harm. In other words, if the stabbing was intentional rather than accidental.

You see, under the current interpretation of English law, that’s not “reasonable” force.

I’m rather fond of most of the US Defensive laws, specifically places with castle doctrine and Stand-your-ground laws.

Somebody says “I’m going to kill you” or “Give me X or I’ll Kill you”, you can use deadly force on them.

That sends quite the message to the violent element of society. Especially in days of people dying of old age on death row, or judges given minimum sentences concurrently.

And this bullshit in the British Police State sends an equally telling message.

Keep a stiff upper lip old man!

If you’re lucky after they have raped your wife and killed your children they might even let you live, if only after a good thrashing.

Think of England and the royal family as they do these things to you and yours. Remember, it’s no good having guns around, they kill people, even bad people.

Seriously, OMG, the UK is lost. We need to go in there and take their nuclear arsenal before it falls into the wrong hands. Clearly, they won’t resist. To have fallen from the epic British manhood demonstrated by the 6th Airborne at Arnhem in WWII to this pitiful state speaks volumes about how socialism enfeebles.

    So very, very civilized.

Remember, you get more of the behavior you reward and less of that you punish.

More and more it seems like if you get attacked in England and manage to defend yourself it’s in your best interest to take the guy’s wallet and tell the cops you were mugging him.

Guns aren’t banned in the UK? Coulda fooled me. I’ll bet the Brits over there would be interested to know that.

  5. I was discussing UK weapons laws with a couple of British friends recently, and it turns out it’s actually possible to build a credible defensive battery over there. In addition to shotguns and rimfires, it’s possible to get licenses for full-capacity bolt actions and leverguns. A Winchester 1894 ain’t an AR, but I wouldn’t feel defenseless holding one. They mostly panic over handguns and semiauto rifles.

If the antis want to insist that guns aren’t banned in the UK, I think that actually works in our favor. The UK system _isn’t_ a ban on all weapons suitable for defense; it’s a capricious, irrational conglomeration of laws passed through ignorance and fearmongering, which make lawful gun ownership much more difficult and expensive than Americans are willing to accept. Let the antis say the UK doesn’t have a gun ban. It just helps us illustrate how little “we don’t want to ban guns” means.

I can shoot my pump-action riot gun just as fast and accurately as my wife’s semi-auto. Takes a bit more practice to get the two on par, but not THAT much.

I imagine if HR 1022 had ever passed and semi-auto rifles were essentially banned, I suspect Pump-action rifles that eat off of STANAG and FAL/M14/G3 mags would suddenly start appearing from the people who currently make semi-auto rifles.

Djinni ain’t goin’ back in the bottle, and I think the sane people here are starting to realize that. I think most of the subjects of the British crown are too far gone, but they can’t live that much longer at this rate. Darwin has a point.

Read some Kipling or Churchill, and how far they’ve fallen will really be depressing.

As Paul Weston once said: “Britain, once an empire where the sun never set, now a socialist island where the sun rarely rises.”
