Sweet! The proper term for such midi-systems are “chiptunes” that might help your search. Its really the polar opposite of this VG Remix, given that this is reworking a primative song from an old chipset, and using moder synth and effects, while chiptunes are attempting to re-create a complex songs within the confines of a primative chipset.
Someone did a couple of pretty nice covers of Guster tunes with a Nintendo synth. I’ll try to dig up links.

kinda like a musical haiku!
No guarantee on the security of the links, but this is the best I could find: http://www.happyfrappy.com/leadball.shtml
Cool. Almost sounds like Infected Mushroom. And wouldn’t a Nintendo remix album by those guys be cool…
They are hands down my favorite Goa Trance group. They rule!
Excuse me while I geek out to this awesomeness…and figure out a way I can listen to it while I work out!
I have them on my phone and simply use tight ear buds. Also we have a Sonos Internet Radio that can access my VG Remix folder, that’s nice too!
BTW got a new OCR Post coming up in just a bit!
