I just got off the phone with somebody from the Second Amendment Foundation. I’m a proud life member, but I’ll be honest, I hung up on the nice lady.
They were talking about SAF sending somebody to the UN to negotiate against whatever anti-gun bullshit those idiots are doing over there.
First up let’s look at the long list of UN accomplishments. I’ll list them below:

Yeah, even in the face of genocide the UN can’t manage to pull their collective thumbs out of their asses, and suddenly I’m supposed to think because various people hostile to the 2nd Amendment are praising the latest non-binding resolution to take away everybody’s “Small Arms”, suddenly my rights are in jeopardy?
Alan Gottlieb, I’m currently sitting in Massachusetts where all my guns need to be locked in a secure container, secured with a Trigger or cable lock, or carried in a holster. I need a permit to own them, and that permit can be revoked or modified for any reason. I can’t buy a SCAR Rifle because they all come with a side-folding stock and a pistol grip. I can’t buy a new Browning Hi-Power because A) Browning handguns haven’t been approved as “Safe” for Massachusetts sale, and I can’t legally own a magazine that holds more than 10 rounds that was made after 1994.
There are lots of other places that have it worse, or as bad as I do. These are REAL problems, don’t pester me with all this tinfoil hat bullshit until you’ve swatted are these REAL bugbears in THIS country.
I did the same to a guy who called from the NRA-ILA who went on this tirade trying to spread FUD about the impotent UN. Can we please focus in the challenges here in the US and not on a bunch of blow hard foreign politicians?

Actually, to be truthful, the UN is evil and does want to disarm us and render our inalienable rights null and void. And they’ll do it via backdoor treaty if they even suspect that they could get away from it.
That being said, if anyone calls me to solicit funds after I already gave them a contribution, I’d likely hang up on them too. Those letters they send and all those DVDs they mail and try to retroactively bill me for are already a bit much.
Yeah the NRA used to do that, but I haven’t seen that shit in ages. Then again I just kept the stuff and ran the bills through the shredder, maybe they learned their lesson.
Yeah the UN is 100% pure evil…but also they the equivalent of the internet’s Mikeb302000 (who happens to work for the UN!), evil and obnoxious and they WANT a lot of bad things….but they have zero power to DO anything.
If they couldn’t stop the Genocide in the Sudan or Burma, or Rwanda, what makes you think they could climb the infinitely less popular and more difficult task of taking our guns?
Even Obama, as amenable to the idea as he may be, wouldn’t cooperate with blue-helmets looking to round up privately held guns, or hamstring the gun makers….and if they came without the welcome of the government. Well Game on!
Got call from a nice lady from the NRA just last night, still trolling the “UN gonna take away yer guns” FUD.
Like you, I wish they’d focus on more important things rather than try to scare me with nonsense – like HR-822, which I understand the NRA championed.
Can’t wait for that to pass, so I when I go back to my ex-home state of Kalifornia, my new-home state Oregon permit will let me carry there. 🙂
