So Obama wants to talk gun control. NRA said they really weren’t interested to come to a meeting that had no benefit to them. Why not? Well because Anti-gun activists are liars. Take Joan Peterson of the Brady Campaign.
So, if the NRA is as powerful as they claim, why would their Executive V.P. Wayne LaPierre and Chris Cox, Executive Director of the NRA-ILA ( the lobbying arm of the NRA) write this petulant letter to President Obama refusing to participate in meetings about gun issues and reasonable measures to stop American citizens from being shot? The tone of the letter is rude and impertinent- something unusual in a communication with the President of the United States. But the NRA doesn’t respect anyone who disagrees with them.

Compare with this.
I say baloney. I have seen no evidence in my months of blogging that you guys are interested in working with us. We will do this without your support.

So the NRA is disrespectful of people who disagree with them, and should be more operative in working with their political opponents? Projection, thy name is Joan!
Of course they won’t do jack or shit without our support because they have no members or support, but they also have no interest in compromise, what they want is submission.
Sorry, Hon, no such luck! Get bent!
BTW Joe has a similar post, but a much wider time gap. Of course such contradictions can be found with ALL anti-rights advocates. It’s their nature!

Weerd,
Don’t forget that I’ve collected a couple of statements from the 3 Mickey Mouseketeers, I mean the anti-rights advocates.
Baldr — the most moderate appearing of the antis — says only a couple of hunting regulations should be changed.
Cease Fire Oregon says they will respond rapidly to ‘any weakening of gun control laws”.
Joan wants to keep pushing for ever more restrictive laws until there are ZERO firearm related homicides.
And we are supposed to be the ones who won’t compromise??????
Projection, its where there backbone is supposed to be! 😀
Funny – the Brady Bunch has not had our support from the very beginning, and they seem to be having a very hard time “do[ing] this”. In fact, I would go so far as to say that they are losing. Badly.
No wonder they are desperate for a “compromise”.
I would disagree with that statement, unless you are talking about the spesific organization known as “The Brady Campaign” , certainly that name has been always associated with dishonesty, and a desire to repeal the Second Amendment by incremental means.
But the historical organization had massive amounts of power and support in the ’80s and ’90s. Most gun owners at that time were hunters and colletors, who worked with blue steel and wood stocks. The handguns out there were revolvers and single-stack semi-autos, and Handgun carry was rare. Also overall gun ownership was much lower then. They had the ear of most who didn’t own guns, and most gun owners were susceptible to the Fudd Syndrome, and were perfectly willing to compromise on guns that didn’t look like their guns.
But after the AWB was passed, that was and hopefully will forever be their high-water mark. But we need to forever be mindful of how we got there as a nation.
That is rather exactly my point, though – that was the best they were able to accomplish. No mass registration. No mass bans (except on certain aesthetic features that have no bearing on the functionality of the gun). No ammunition regulation. Just the AWB and the lacksadaisical attitude of your average gun owners.
And, since then? The AWB is allowed to expire, concealed carry stormed the nation, open carry stormed the nation, constitutional carry is building steam, the gun culture booms, and so forth.
Yeah, sure, they were able to achieve all of that without our support, but is that really so impressive, given their intended and stated goals? And does the same regulation stand a snowball’s chance in a fusion reactor of surviving in our current culture?
Just as soon as the NAACP sits down with the Klan to talk about the “black problem” I think we can consider the offer. It’s the same deal, really.
Wow, fucking AMAZING analogy! Even with the “Black Problem”, yep we have a lot of gangs, illiteracy, drug addiction and welfare dependence in the inner city. Guess who shouldn’t be consulted on these serious issues? THE KLAN!
Also it is something that should be considered is the gangs and the sociopaths getting guns, and people getting shot…guess who we shouldn’t consult for help? Brady and Joyce!
