BAD Lever Review

I must say the AR-15 is probably one of the most ergonomically intuitive rifles. Its hard to improve on the controls or manual of arms of this guns. Except for the bolt release. Its fiddly to lock the bolt open on the AR, and while whacking the ping-pong-paddle with your palm works like a charm to dropping the bolt, its not a positive action like pressing the mag release or flicking the safety lever.

I’ve shot several rifles with a BAD lever, and when I get an AR, it is a MUST have!

I might look into getting one of those at some point. Right now, though, I’m just gathering all the magazines I can.

Just in case there’s a ban, I remember what regular mags were valued at during the last one. If Obama wins I might go ahead and pick up a bunch of stripped lowers and the Saiga-12 I’ve been wanting, too.

Yeah unfortunately here there isn’t much risk of that. I remember chatting at the gun counter of my favorite shop right after the 2008 election. I asked him what he thought might be pushed in Massachusetts. We both agreed the biggest risk was OTHER states becoming more like us, than us changing.

I honestly don’t think Obama has the power to push a second AWB thanks to Heller. Too damn many ARs in “Common Use”. Also I don’t have much fear in Heller being overturned, because if Roe v Wade has been safe all these years (not to mention Miller which still wasn’t overturned by Heller…both HORRIBLE rulings) I don’t see much risk.

I hope I’m not wrong. Still, remember, Obama is our President, not our King!

Ah, but he likes to think he is, and so do his supporters.

Mind you Obama sees himself as a modern European king. A lot of pomp, juice, and benefits but no real responsibilities.

I wouldn’t put it past him to try something with an executive order, though. Might even be able to pull a ban on Saiga importation, who knows.

I have to say that the AR charging handle sucks donkey balls. It would take some effort to come up with something less ergonomic.

I love the Magpul BAD (and think it is superior in shape to the other ambi bolt catches I’ve messed with), but would prefer to see Magpull come out with something with the same shape, but is a one-piece bolt catch, not two seperate pieces bolted on to a standard bolt catch. While not fatal, it would truly suck if the day you are counting on your AR to run flawlessly to save your life was the day the little screw loosened up.

If Magpul came up with a unitary “BAD2”, it would become a “must have” for any AR, to the point of me being willing to just dump my current BAD in the spare parts shoebox without blinking.

I’ve seen some one-piece designs out there, but not handled any of them for ergonomics.
