COME ON 2nd Amendment Foundation!

Just got off the phone with a caller from the 2nd Amendment foundation, she was talking again about the BS UN Gun ban Hillary Clinton is allegedly fixing to level against us.

Guess what jurisdiction the UN has with us? The same they have with 3rd World Dictators.

If the UN can’t stop people from hacking each other up with machetes what makes you think the Blue Helmets are going to take my FAL???

I love the 2nd Amendment Foundation and what they’re doing right now, but seriously this bullshit makes them sound like cranks.

Also BTW when I mentioned this to the nice lady, and pointed out that running a call center to call about such BS was wasting money….she kept to the script and asked for my donation.

Yup, paranoia doesn’t help. My one concern about a U.N. treaty is the possibility that it would cut off the flow of surplus guns and antiques. Even if this treaty were a danger (it’s not), the Senate will never pass it.

    • Pyrotek85 says:

That’s the only concern I’d have, importations.

That’s a great movie by the way, to those who haven’t seen it or aren’t familiar with the details of the genocide that occurred.

      • Weerd Beard says:

But HOW could it cut off importations? The UN could ban the sale of “Military Style Weapons” and related accessories, and define those however they feel fit….but then what happens when customer A sells legal goods to customer B?

Unless one of the nations decides to voluntarily comply with the UN by passing their own laws, this doesn’t do shit.

        • Erin Palette says:

See, that’s what worries me, that our own government might think this is a good idea and try to abide by these rules.

It may not be plausible, but then neither are zombies, and both give me the willies.

  2. A UN treaty banning or limiting gun sales would never pass ratification in the Senate. See this article.

You are right, it might cause some problems with foreign gun makers who decide not to ship to the US. But I am confident this would just cause the US gun industry to rise to the occasion, much as the Australian industry did in producing pump action rifles when semi=autos were banned there.

I also see your point – it bothers me to see an organization like the 2AF using this for fund raising. I expect it from the NRA, as they use everything including they can. I expect to get something in the mail soon about the ban on carrying of personal weapons in the city limits of Tombstone Arizona, imposed by the Earps.

Call center people are not allowed to deviate from their script. They will get fired if they do. They could care less about whatever is in their script.

Fill yer hands: The treaty power in the constitution is an article. Amendments supersede articles, including the second amendment. The Senate can ratify whatever it wishes … the instant the treaty runs afoul of the bill of rights, the courts are supposed to find against it.

Such a treaty could only effect the import and export of firearms.

  4. 45er says:

Yeah, my concern isn’t what the UN could do, but what OUR government would try to do under the guise of “cooperating” with or “abiding” by some agreement. I know they know they can’t do it through passing laws right now, so they might try it by signing on to international agreements. Still, a judicial dispute should easily kill that but not if SCOTUS is stacked after a second term.
