After three mice, at about an hour per mouse (!!) I finally got a carotid atery cannula threadded!
And the damn thing worked too!

I think my wife is envious Weer’d. That’s right up her alley with both her degrees but alas she took the job she could find.
Weer’d: tested on animals.
I tried to do a femoral on rats. A lot harder than it looks. I can’t imagine how small a mouse would be. Loupes would be almost necessary.
Now a femoral on a human, no problem!
Today on “Stories from Mousewitz” Dr Weer’dgele performs fiendish experiments…

All surplus animals used, so they were all doomed for the gas chamber anyway.

One of my unsuccessful surgeries started squeaking dispute being totally under anesthesia.
I suspect I pinched his vagus nerve…which might expect why he stopped breathing on me. 🙁
