Right and Wrong

So Cheaper than Dirt has suspended their firearms sales, in a reaction of the Connecticut shooting. Pretty stupid since TECHNICALLY they’re only selling those guns to Federal Firearms License holders, who then transfer the gun to citizens with background checks, paperwork, and transfer fees.

This is the same battered wife nonsense, that somehow this horrible event is OUR fault. It isn’t.

Dennis over at Dragon Leatherworks is just as upset as all of us are, so as an FFL, he’s thrown up an online sales page. Its only three now, but you can keep checking back by clicking that logo on my sidebar. Also somebody needs to buy that Magnum Research Micro Eagle, those look like nifty pocket guns, I’d get a pocket-holster with it too!

Dennis tells me more guns will be going up soon, so check back, and if any of those guns look good to you, or look nice for a Christmas Gift for somebody special, buy one, because if you buy Dennis out, he’ll use the money to buy more stock!

    Thanks for the link, Weer’d!

The offerings are small now, but with luck will grow. I’m ramping this side of the business up slowly, same as I did with the holster side.

If there is a gun that folks would like to see if I can locate and price out, they can drop an email or use the contact page on the site.

    Thanks again!

I was actually talking with somebody who was in the market for a new gun, I might send him your way for a wholesale order.

Be sure to try an talk anybody I send your way into a holster too!

I wonder if CTD is going to drop their “Survivalist Gear.” Seems that the Shooter’s Mom was into Prepping, and she had those Guns for when the SHTF. So, if CTD is willing to throw 30% of their Business Overboard, why not be true to their “Principled Stand” and stop selling MRE’s, Packs, Vests, etc.?

The notice on their website now says that they are selling guns and shipping them to FFL’s but they’re having internal problems processing orders. It also says to allow at least 72 hours to process firearms orders. It looks like their servers were swamped and not a political thing.

    • Weerd Beard says:

If this is true, and not some revisionist history, the person who wrote the initial notice should be fired for such a poor use of words.

I think this was more of a “New Coke” moment, less of a “Bill Ruger trying to screw Glock by tossing the 2nd Amendment under the bus” moment.

Or, at least, that seems to be the story now.

I’ll take their explanation they emailed me at face value. . . for now. Even if the initial idea was CYA, I’ll leave them their fig leaf and face. (Back a man into a corner and refuse to take prisoners, and even Pee Wee Herman might decide to go out Valhalla style. After all, what’s he got to lose at that point?)

I do not require a ritual flaying of some clueless PR type, just so I can wear his skin as a trophy for a month. “Victory” tastes so much better than “revenge”.

Sadly Dennis isn’t shipping to IL. I can guess an reasons why he wouldn’t, but it precludes me from his new side of the business until I eventually move.

    • Weerd Beard says:

He won’t ship to Mass either. I don’t blame him, there is no simple way for an out-of-state FFL to determine if a gun can be transferred to a resident. Even one of the biggest gun shops in Maine won’t answer me when I ask if a gun is Mass Compliant, they don’t keep up with it, so they tell you to ask your home FFL.

If I were to order one of those Taurus guns, they’d need to eventually shipped back to Dennis and it would be a huge PITA.
