So Much for Kindness

Wow what a story. This was sent to me by both Farmdad and Bubblehead Les. Joan Was talking about this story too!

A West Virginia man who told authorities he was hitchhiking across the country and writing a memoir about kindness was injured in a seemingly random drive-by shooting near Montana’s booming Bakken oil patch.

Ray Dolin, 39, of West Virginia, was shot in the arm as he approached a pickup Saturday evening, thinking the driver was offering him a ride, said Valley County Sheriff Glen Meier….A 52-year-old man from Washington state, Lloyd Christopher Danielson III, was arrested about four hours later near Culbertson. Authorities said Danielson was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. They released no motive in the shooting.

Joan responds:

Did he have a permit for that gun? The opening of the oil fields in North Dakota have led to incidences of men behaving badly. Some communities have seen an increase in violence and general threats to public safety. In addition, the number of gun permits issued in North Dakota has increased dramatically. The oil patch workers have them. Residents of the towns in the oil patch have them. People are coming from all over for the boom in the oil business creating stress on local housing, law enforcement, population of small rural towns and the sense of security of local residents. It’s a vicious circle. People feel insecure because of an increase in crime and a feeling that they are not safe from the workers who live temporarily in their area. The people who work in the fields are there to make money for their families but often come from far away living in trailer towns or wherever they can find a room. There isn’t a lot to do during time off. Some people get involved in over indulgence in alcohol and drugs and criminal activity. Guns do not fit with this scenario.

Well let’s look at the latest story:

A West Virginia man who claimed to be the victim of a drive-by shooting along a rural Montana highway while working on a memoir called “Kindness in America” has confessed to shooting himself, authorities said Friday.

Valley County sheriff’s officials said they believe 39-year-old Ray Dolin shot himself as a desperate act of self-promotion, but they offered no further details….Danielson was jailed on suspicion of felony assault with a weapon and driving under the influence. He did not enter a plea during an initial court appearance Monday, and City Judge Traci Harada set bail for Danielson at $50,000 on the assault charge and $685 for the DUI. He was expected to make another court appearance Tuesday.

The sheriff’s office had identified Danielson as a resident of Olympia, Wash., but he said in court that he was from Tumwater, Wash., Harada said. Danielson has criminal convictions in King County, Wash., for assault, unlawful possession of a firearm, obstruction of law enforcement and exhibiting or carrying a weapon with intent to intimidate. Records show he was sentenced in 2005 to 8 months in jail on the charges.

Very strange case. I wonder what really happened, but again its full of lies.

Does Joan’s map have ND located inside MT?

  2. Scott says:

How do you think Joan feels about me…a two degree democrat who has a concealed carry permit and will vote for Obama again as well as Tim Kaine for my senator?

There’s the neat thing about anti-freedom zealots. For them to constantly broadcast and argue what they KNOW isn’t true, they need to have a strong touch of narssisim, which generally means they don’t like other people that much at all…even other anti-gun lobbyists.

Unless of course they’re singing their praises …they like that!

Well the next VA Tech shooting will not happen in my office . I am the Registrar at a small liberal arts college in Virginia. I have to say no to crazy people all day long. No way I am subjecting my awesome staff to crazy people without being armed.

It may be a .22 but its better than a stapler or a set of scissors…..

  3. Wolfman says:

Wait, gun permits in ND? Somebody should mention this is the free world. Those are CONCEAL permits. In MT, conceal permits are only needed inside city limits. This means about 99% of a VERY large state is Constitutional Carry. And those company owned trailer towns? All dry, and Gun Free Zones. Which means NO guns, NO alcohol, and NO drugs, right? So she’s wrong on all counts. Huh, go figure.

As seems to happen with analog minute-hand consistency, the left seems all too willing to jump on a news snippet and claim outrage for their side. Soon, the story is everywhere as proof of OUR moral failure.

More often than not, when the facts come out, we find: no racism, neither bible/gun clinging middle americans, rednecks, conspiracies against the oppressed, or plots to eradicate the government or those that do not physically resemble us.

Another thing we don’t find: an apology, a retraction (front page), and contrite embarrassment for the evil lies that they perpetuate.

FYI Tumwater is a municipality adjacent to Olympia, Washington’s capitol city. King County is about fifty miles north and is the county that surrounds Seattle.

Mikeb went on about that when the story hit the news for the first time–that was when I was still visiting over there, before he told me to f— off. He said the same nonsense as Joan. Of course, what they can do now is spin it from “rednecks with guns” to “crazy people with guns.” Their attitude is that no one should be free to do anything that they don’t like.
