Was in Maine this weekend, and I grabbed some pictures my parents took of our week in Williamsberg.
We had to walk past these sheep every day between our hotel and Willamsberg. They stunk like death, but they were super cute. Mrs. Weer’d got pissed at me for talking to them while they were sleeping at night.
These two Oxen, “Dan” and “Dick”, 18th Century version of a Log Skidder! They were super cute too, and amazingly well behaved. They did exactly what the driver told them.
Here’s me watching the cannon crew doing what they did best! VERY cool!
This is from Jamestown, and this is the first time I’ve seen a Matchlock musket doing its thing. VERY cool. BTW the guy giving the talk was VERY cool, and one thing he was pointing out was that Muskets were “Weapons of War”, he asked the crowd what it meant, and somebody said “Its just for killing”, and he pointed out that that was wrong, given that hunting arms also do a fair deal of killing. “Defense and attack” were the operative terms. Also given that the whole settlement is a massive stockade fortress, “defense” is the big game here.
Last is me, and a very pretty lady standing in front of some Democrat’s shack.
You don’t know where we are, well you don’t deserve the nickles in your pockets!
Was a good time, and if you haven’t been, get down there!
Deval Patrick’s shack is bigger. The People’s Party is doing just fine.
Heh. 11 year old darling daughter met that same matchlock gunner at Jamestown and was allowed to hold the gun.
I’ve very glad that you enjoyed your stay in Virginia. Come back soon!
Hey Weerd did those oxen have kind eyes? 😀
It looks more like an impressive mansion on a nickle. I always imagined it would be bigger than that.
Yes, that house is a triumph, built in a time when many of our politicians had actual skills. You’re making me want to go back to Virginia.
Weer’d,
Are you just trying to piss off the folk in our great Commonwealth or is there a reason you are spelling it as ‘berg?’ 🙂
