CSGV raises a point that they will refuse to clarify:
Right now its illegal for somebody who has been involuntarily committed to buy or own guns. Its a high bar, but its the only bar where a judge and a jury of your peers can declare you “insane” with full due process.
So if CSGV wants to stop “Homicidal Maniacs” from getting guns, how do they determine somebody is of that mental state? They don’t want to say. Do they simply want every record of anybody who’s seen a psychologist or psychiatrist to be declared “insane”? Hell I know a lot of children of divorce or who have lost family to tragedy who have seen therapists to help work through the difficult issues. I know lots of people who were VERY wise to see a psychiatrist for treatment of minor mental issues like OCD, Depression, or ADHD as work with a professional has a much better success rate than just drugs alone. Heck I’m sure there are tons of soldiers who have seen professionals to help with issues of PTSD between combat tours…and the US Government has no issue giving these soldiers heavy weapons and responsibilities again.
Or does CSGV want your private medical records made public so THEY (the experts they are) can declare who’s “Sane” and “insane”? That would be a horrible 4th Amendment violation…but again, anti-freedom, not anti-gun.

You’ll notice when people who are in favor of gun restrictions call for a “Debate” or a “Discussion”, or a “Conversation”, you’ll never actually SEE anything of the sort. They claim to want debate, what they WANT is us to surrender and leave the field.

What they really intend (but can’t admit) is that since you can’t tell for sure in advance who is dangerously unstable and who is not…just take guns away from everybody.
Not just ‘sane’ or ‘insane’, they also want people of political beliefs they disapprove of added to the prohibited purchasers lists. They really hate it when the obvious historical comparisons are made.
I do appreciate you keeping me informed of the Coalition to Stop Gun Ownership’s tweets. They’ve blocked my access. Anti-freedom, not just anti-gun.
Odds are they’d also scream like mad if you suggested reopening mental institutions and making it even the least bit easier to get someone committed or even examined.
