The Four Rules

We all know the four rules, right?

RULE I: ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

RULE II: NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO DESTROY

RULE III: KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

RULE IV: BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET

This is why!

Authorities in eastern Pennsylvania have charged a mother with involuntary manslaughter in the death of a 19-month-old boy hit by a gunshot in his crib….Investigators say the mother told officers she was planning to sell a gun and was unloading it when it fired.

Now we COULD spot her rule 3, as this might be a primer-strike by the extractor, but I doubt it. Still the muzzle was in an unsafe direction, the gun was loaded and not treated as such, and maybe we can spot her rule 4, as she wasn’t actively shooting.

Follow those four rules! Make sure everybody who has guns knows them and follows them. It very well could save a life!

If this is the story that I’ve run across elsewhere, the mother is some crack whore who was selling the gun, probably for drug money. If I recall correctly, the firearm in question was a revolver, so no extractor strike.
