Wow, when I read the title of this article I expected something different. What I expected was also stupid, but not THIS stupid!
Gun advocates spent their Wednesday fighting on Capitol Hill for the right of female civilians to carry semi-automatic assault weapons while their compatriots on the right are mourning the decision to allow female soldiers to carry guns on the battlefield. You can see why gun rights advocates would want women to be the face of their issue, because we don’t associate women with violence or militias or an obsession with blowing things up. But, at this particular moment, this standard National Rifle Association talking point is crashing into another conservative meme: women aren’t fit to fight in combat.
Seriously? They just straight up compared carrying and owning semi-automatic guns with military service! So, wait, because I can stick a pistol in my pocket and jump through the BS permit processes, I’m now fit for combat duty?
I love it when people play gotcha with things they don’t even respect or care about.
But this talking point — especially the part about the AR-15 — is not helping the conservative cause. The AR-15 is the civilian version of the military’s M4 and M16. A gun that’s so light to carry? So easy to shoot? Such a great equalizer of the sexes? It’s what soldiers use in Afghanistan, the gun people opposed to women in combat say women would struggle to carry.
Yep, because me defending my home from an intruder, or defending my life against an attack on the street is exactly the same as running a strike mission in the mountains of Afghanistan.
How can they not be ashamed to pen this stuff? How can Editors not read this and say “Seriously, I’m not printing the garbage!”?
I’m not sure they get the irony, Weer’d. It’s like talking to Klingons.
And note that the converse doesn’t get applied.
You see it’s not hypocritical to take the opposite stance on both issues. Never.
Well their converse statement is that NOBODY should have “Assault Weapons”…except for Police (who’s ranks are flush with women) and Military, because they’re “highly trained”….and I guess women are too stupid to be trained.
Like I said, I knew the article was going to be dumb, but THIS level of dumb was actually surprising to me.
Well for starters, it’s not like women can opt-out of being victims. Crime exists so they should be allowed to deal with it. And why are gun owners strictly ‘conservatives’ (by which they typically mean Republicans)? Do the Republicans of today really qualify?
Uh, Hello! McFly! Don’t those Idiots realize that it is already LEGAL for an 18 year old Female U.S. Citizen with a clean Record to go to the Nearest Gun Store, plop down some Cash and walk out with an AR? Provided she passes the Background Checks, obeys any other Gun Laws, etc.
AND can FIND one, along with the Ammo, Magazines, etc.
Also, if anyone thinks that Women can’t Handle Combat, there’s a few thousand FEMALE Red Army Snipers yelling from their Graves calling “BULLSHIT!”
AND a few thousand Dead Nazis saying the same thing!
AND it’s a Volunteer Military. No one put a Gun to little Mary Jane’s Head and said “YOU’RE GOING TO AFGHANISTAN!”
Just like the RKBA is a VOLUNTEER RIGHT! That’s the one thing that gets me spun up like a Gyroscope. NO ONE IS TELLING ANYONE THAT THEY MUST OWN A FIREARM!

To the anti gun rights “progressives” it’s ok for a woman to carry a gun to defend her country overseas, but it’s not ok for her to defend herself or her family at home. Nope. Women should not be allowed to use guns unless under strict military supervision.
Hmm. The future Mr. Pigbomb surprised me this week with an AR-15 for my birthday that he had spent the last few months secretly building, but I’m just not sure if its right for me. I mean, what if I take possession of said assault weapon and find that its evil seeps into my bones just by the mere act of holding it? What if that long, hard, black, 20″ barrel incites and excites my inner gangsta? Even worse– what if I shirk my womanly duties of cooking and cleaning and popping out babies in favor of being evil and bringing said assault weapon to the range? THE HUMANITY!!!
Is this really the message that people are trying to send? And is this really society’s view of me simply because I enjoy shooting the guns we legally and rightfully own?
Sadly, yes. When I put a photo of me holding my new present on the book of faces, many people responded with crap like “you’re really scaring me” and “don’t you think a gun like that is excessive?” No. Actually, I don’t. It’s why it’s the newest addition to the collection. I guaran-fricking-tee that if I were a guy, I would have heard less. But in my fiancé’s defense, he did also buy me a sewing machine for my birthday. Slight return to traditional gender roles, thankfully.
All I know is that this gun is heavy. More power to the women who are going to be on the front lines. Maybe they’ll publish their arm workouts so myself and other delicate flowers can carry our assault weapons without losing our targets….. You know, in all that urban warfare I now plan on joining in now that I’m on the dark side.

I didnt have any question about it but knew this one was a keeper when our (tentative) honeymoon plans are to first fly to the Ukraine to see some sights and shoot RPGs, then head over to mother Russia to do a Red Army tour, stop and pay respects in Izhevsk, and then get drunk on vodka. It’s like the ridiculousness of me, only with a beard and bigger man parts 🙂
