A man has been charged with murder after a hit-and-run crash in North Austin Sunday night left one man dead and another injured.
Roman Huerta, 27, is facing the murder charge after police say they learned from witnesses the crash into the men “was intentional and not an accident,” according to an arrest affidavit released Tuesday….Police said they believe Huerta was in a long running dispute with Rodriguez and the feud was reignited when the two argued again during a Sunday night outing.
About a month ago, Rodriguez punched Huerta in the face at Club Carnaval in East Austin, court documents said.
On Sunday night, the two ran into each other again during an outing at the North Austin Event Center and argued after Huerta bumped into Rodriguez, according to the affidavit.
The argument spilled into the parking lot outside, Rodriguez then kicked Huerta and taunted him to fight as Huerta entered his vehicle, a witness told police. Rodriguez, standing next to a male friend, also threw a beer bottle at Huerta’s truck, another witness said.
“The driver of the vehicle was inside his truck with the windows up and the music up while the victim and another man were standing outside of the truck yelling at him to come out and fight,” the affidavit said….The male friend who was injured in the crash was taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge with injuries that were considered life-threatening, according to Austin-Travis County EMS. As of Tuesday morning, police officials said the victim continues to survive the injuries.
So what we have here is a vehicle being used as a straight-up murder-weapon killing one, and critically injuring a second. How is this ANY different than a “Mass Shooting” that the “Gun Death” crowd caws about constantly?
