Statist Fantasies

First I’ll lead with our flaws:

The thing that annoys me most about the video, apart from the goofy obliviousness of Officer Rerun, is the handy dubbed-in captioning. You know, where it says something like “Sparky’s gonna love the FEMA camps.”

Here’s why: There aren’t going to be any FEMA camps, Zippy. The whole idea of “FEMA camps” gives gives beer-bellied armchair revolutionaries from Cucamonga, California to Camden, New Jersey a nice safe “Go Code” that will never come; a bugle call that will never sound and that they’ll only have to answer in their daydreams.

There aren’t going to be any camps. Government will get a little more intrusive. Taxes will get a little higher. Laws will get a little more strict. All as we seesaw back and forth between Democrat and Republican administrations, each one tightening their favorite part of the ratchet and never repealing anything. And you’ll keep going to work on Monday and tuning in to Alex Jones late at night and waiting for “The Camps” as the signal to start “The Revolution.”

And meanwhile, we’ll have turned into Sweden with NASCAR and better gun laws; Britain with baseball; a quasi-socialist “Third Way” country with its own American flavor and hot and cold running cable. And half the population wants this; half your neighbors; half your relatives.

There is a certain segment that thinks the government will go all “Third Reich” or “Khmer Rouge”, and we’ll rise up and squash them with our 2nd Amendment 3% Revolution! Won’t happen so long as we have guns. If we have guns it’ll just be incremental soft-socialism until the proverbial frog boils. These oppressive regimes can ONLY exist in a state with no civilian controlled guns.

Its a fantasy, and really a catch 22. There won’t be death camps or overreaching martial law in an armed society, because the society is armed, and an oppressive regime will only flex its muscles when the opposition has first been crushed.

Now onto the side of the statists. Sebastian links this article that shows a prevalent trend in anti-rights activists:

Normally, I am a peaceable man, but in this case, I am willing to answer the call to defend the country. From them.

To turn the song lyric they so love to quote back on them, “We’ll put a boot in your —, it’s the American way.”

Except it won’t be a boot. It’ll be an M1A Abrams tank, supported by an F22 Raptor squadron with Hellfire missiles. Try treason on for size. See how that suits. And their assault arsenal and RPGs won’t do them any good.

So, to return to reality, all of us. Let’s make common sense gun safety a deciding issue for 2014 and beyond. The NRA certainly has. Let’s push back. We the People. The 85 percent who support more robust background checks. And when the next domestic terrorist with an assault rifle comes along, we can blame the leaders and fringe of the NRA for arming them.

More fantasy, but in this case its the Daddy .Gov crushing those people who disagree with them with extreme prejudice. Of course this is just as likely as the US Military wouldn’t see fit to strike against 2nd Amendment activists because A) Many military members are also 2nd Amendment activists, B) The number of innocent collateral damage from such strikes would quickly demoralize even the most steadfast statist soldier.

But this is what they really want! I would say at least the gunnie fantasy involves getting our own hands dirty, and has a line of simply being left alone. The Statists want political homogeneity, even when it comes to the streets ACTUALLY running with blood, while they sit in their blue-state suburbs and watch it all on MSNBC.

I’ll close with an image from “Peace Loving” Jason “Baldr” Kilgore:

They claim “85%” and sometimes “90%” want their world view, but they can’t seem to muster the support in real-life, so instead they dream of us being killed.

Rather disturbing, given how common I’ve been seeing this theme.

    One word: “Afghanistan.”

Here’s another example of armchair QBing.

Amber Dawn wants to detect out CCW’s and “take them out”. But not personally, no that would be voilent. Instead Amber urges others to do it for her.

Amazing worldview, to be okay with, and in fact encouraging, armed “vigilantee” possees roaming about attacking people who have commited no crime, but to be steadfastly against anyone you don’t like being armed.

That is unless Amber wants to send unarmed fodder against people she knows will be armed.

Well, the Dirty Little Secret the Antis seem to forget is that the U.S. Military is PEOPLE, not the tools that they use like Tanks, Planes, Ships, etc. And I’ll bet you there are a LOT more Private Guns in the hands of the Military per capita than in the Civilian Population.

So “Baldr” Jackoffenson thinks the Troops will A) Turn in all their Own Guns and B) then go after those who use the RKBA?

    What a Maroon!

From the Left to the Military:
“Greetings you bunch of ignorant babykilling rapist morons too dumb to get real jobs like us. We have a favor we would like you to do, but first, we want you to know that we will continue to play up your misdeeds (remember My Lai? Abu Gharib? We won’t let you forget!), fake other misdeeds, ignore any heroics, cut your benefits… and your numbers… and your training and equiptment, and in general treat you with comtempt and hatered.”

“So, would you do us a favor? We need you to violate your oaths to protect and defend the Constitution so that you can go and kill people we don’t like- most of whom are your fellow vets, or your family members, or those who agree with you.”

“Thanks, and when you’re done, we might not lable you “insane”… maybe.”

Great point! Those who dream on Military forces killing those who disagree with them also seem to be the most contemptuous to our service men and women.

They obviously see them as little more than pawns on the board!

      • Cargosquid says:

As a retired vet, I resemble that remark.

The anti’s keep forgetting that posse comitatus forbids law enforcement by military.

And unlawful orders are just that.
