Anti-Gun: Not in My Backyard

You hear it all the time. Some fool anti grouses about how horrible and dangerous guns are, and how they should all be banned. Then the standard retort comes: “What About Police?”

Well the anti will then backpedal that police should have guns because they are so well trained and safe, they can keep their guns.

Well not in Oklahoma:

“Everybody in that building knew who we were,” said Wagoner county sheriff Bob Colbert, who, along with 40 other sheriffs from around the state, converged on the capitol as they do every year to meet and greet and lobby. Until…

“One of the senators, who they wouldn’t tell us, complained because we were armed in the building,” he said.

They were then given a choice, disarm or there’s the door.

“So we all packed up and left,” he said.

Colbert doesn’t know for sure which senator complained, but has his own complaints about the complainer.

“We’re the people that protect these people,” he said.

Got that? Sheriffs should be able to carry guns because we ask them to do icky things like deal with criminals, but when they come to the capital to work with lawmakers in making a better state, they were asked to disarm or leave.

Does this seem like “Common Sense” to you? Yeah, the antis are all about letting us keep our guns! They’re not anti-gun they’re for “Common Sense” safety.

Well sure…if the criminals on the street could make the police disarm, they would too. It’s just that the criminals at the state house that have that power. 🙂

  2. Welcome to our world, Sheriff. How’s it feel?
