Or do you mean PHYSICALLY protecting women? Not just their rights? Like the right to keep and bear arms? Of course Ms. Smeal is the founder of NOW which believes that women are as powerful and as good as men…until a man physically assaults her, then they need to call a strange man on the telephone to come save her like in an old sexist faerie tale.
Of course all the Bill of Rights applies equally to women as it does men. Hell she used her 1st Amendment rights to malign the 2nd Amendment! As well as her urges for women to not go armed to their physical detriment.
I’m amazed somebody could make a statement so tone-deaf, but I’m more amazed that somebody would then make a graphic, and other people would spread it.

Eleanor is way . . . out there. Like a lot of folks who talk the liberation game, they really want to grab the reins of government power to impose their own brand of “soft tyranny”. Still, the creaky, fact-challenged Liberation Narrative goes lumbering on. At the university where I work, white male students of European descent are out-numbered 5 to 3, but the drive to recruit students from “under-represented” populations continues unabated and unchallenged.
There are real stories of empowered women out there. My Mom’s self-defense with a .22 revolver is one small story. She didn’t need Eleanor to sell her a victimization spiel. She needed the Second Amendment’s recognition of the primal, natural right to self-defense, and, pre-GCA, a mail order handgun. She had both at the time.
I guess she’s never heard of the 14th Amendment, either, which specifically guarantees equal rights to all citizens.
