My neighbor’s dog loves it when I rub his belly. Every time I visit, he rolls over and paws my hand until he gets a rub down. I wish my wife was that enthusiastic!
I like the dogs grabbing your hand and pulling it to them, but am I the only one that would get pissed off about the dog growling for not getting its demanded petting?
My dog, she prefers butt scratches.

Ripley will just nose at people until she gets her pat-pats.

Oh yeah, those dogs would get slapped Alpha-Dog fashion. Growling is not a polite behavior, and growling over not being petted is not OK.
Which is why little dogs are so often “jerks”
It’s because growling like that elicits laughter and encouragement if the dog is small.
Meanwhile that behavior in a 90lb dog would get a far different reaction.
Thus there is oft an allowance of worse and worse behavior the smaller the dog is.
It’s a disheartening bias.
I dunno, If I had a little dog I might find a few .22 shells missing from the armory and some soft dirt in the backyard….
