“Gun Death” Foster Family Neglect

A sad and sick one

An Oklahoma mother was arrested on a charge of child abuse murder after police say her 3-year-old foster son died from a severe head injury.

…The couple’s foster son **DEPARTED** was rushed to a hospital August 27 suffering from blunt force trauma to the head. Despite the doctors’ efforts, the toddler’s condition gradually worsened and he passed away from his injures five days later.

…According to court filings, **FOSTER MOTHER** told police the 3-year-old was jumping on the couch when he fell and hit his head on a table.

However, investigators found that the foster mother’s account was not consistent with the severity of the boy’s injuries.

Hey, but only “Gun Death” counts, so lighten up!

Reports like this bug the hell out of me.

Not because their not tragic, or because bad foster homes shouldn’t be reported on or investigated, but because good foster homes never make the news.

And just like gun owners, 99.99% of foster homes are good, but the ones that make the news make us all look bad.

As an aside, look at what’s required to be certified as a foster provider: full background check (including fingerprinting and mental health), character references, home inspection by a state-employed certifier (yes, they come into your house and look around), and mountains of paperwork – y’know, the stuff the Brady Bunch and CSGV want imposed on law-abiding gun owners. And yet, occasionally, bad homes still get certified.

And the State wonders why so few people are willing to jump through the hoops, and Brady/CSGV wonders why we gun owners fight tooth and nail against all these “reasonable, common-sense” regulations.
