“Gun Death” Drowning

This is a really sad one:

Authorities say an 8-year-old boy’s dad and his uncle are dead after they jumped into Idaho’s Snake River to rescue him after he fell in.

The Elmore County Sheriff’s office says the three were fishing Sunday afternoon in southwest Idaho when the men went in after the boy and were swept away by the current.

A 23-year-old man also jumped into the river and was able to rescue the boy.

But witnesses told deputies that the two men both disappeared under the surface before anyone could reach them.

I’ve taken a life-guard class and one lesson they teach you is that you don’t risk your life to save another life. It’s noble, but two are dead attempting to save one.

My heart goes out to the boy who will likely never forget the day he lost his Father and Uncle.

Guns and Prohibition

Of course we know the anti-gun forces are for prohibiting guns, carry, and self defense in every way possible, but as I constantly say, they are Anti-Freedom, not just anti-gun.

Sean suggested for this week’s Gun Blog Variety Cast Sean wanted to discuss the anti-gun view on alcohol.

Let’s have a look. First is this bit of tripe:

Moms across the country were deeply disturbed to see photos of armed men inside a Chili’s restaurant in Texas. Chili’s serves alcohol, and as we all know, guns and alcohol are a lethal combination. A week after Moms Demand Action launched our #RibsNotRifles social media campaign, along with a petition calling for Chili’s to keep guns out of its restaurants, Brinker International, which owns both Chili’s and Maggiano’s restaurants, released this statement, “We recognize that the open carry of firearms in restaurants creates an uncomfortable atmosphere and is not permitted under many local liquor laws. So, we kindly ask that guests refrain from openly carrying firearms into our restaurants and we will continue to follow state and local laws on this issue.”
We applaud Chili’s for taking a stand and choosing #gunsense!

Well except they didn’t take a stand, most of these “Victories” are nothing short of window dressing.

Still let’s look at the alcohol issue. OpenCarry.org has this great graphic

Gee, if guns and alcohol are such a “lethal combination” why is carrying in restaurants in all but Louisiana legal? Shouldn’t we be hearing about all the BLOOD IN THE STREETS from that “lethal combination”?

Yep another fake hysteria from anti-gun people. Now many states restrict if somebody carrying a firearm can drink ANY alcohol, and all of them restrict people who are legally drunk (ie can’t drive a car legally) from carrying a gun. Also having alcohol in your system in the event of a defensive shooting will NOT do you any favors.

Also being drunk and in control of a gun will likely give you a felony charge, and possibly forfeit the carried gun. This is no small deal, hence why there really aren’t issues with people carrying guns in establishments that serve alcohol.

Here’s another article:

A proposal to allow alcohol sales at guns shows in Texas got a mostly unfavorable reaction at a gun show in Houston on Saturday, with some in attendance calling it a bad idea. The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission on Friday announced it is considering the proposal, provided that at such events live ammunition isn’t allowed or buyers can’t take possession of their weapons.

So not only does this follow the other rules of Texas, but any guns in the possession of the person having a beer must be unloaded!

Now quotes from the nay-sayers:

“You will find people in here who are going to say, `Oh yeah, that’s a great idea. Why can’t we have a beer at the gun show? Nobody’s got a loaded gun.’ But stupid things happen. It’s just like drinking and driving. Are you going to drink and drive?” said Jensen, 30, who works for a beer distributor.

This is NOT like drunk driving, this is more like the cases that have been happening recently where a person is charged with DUI for sleeping off their drunk in their car. They’re drunk, but they’re NOT driving, but I guess they COULD drive, so DUI!!! for that matter, what about people drinking who OWN a car! I have a rather well-stocked liquor cabinet, and I have a car and guns. Now the car is locked up when I’m having a few, and so are the guns, but I COULD unlock them all and go driving and shooting at children and puppies!

ARREST ME! I MUST BE STOPPED!

Again, anti-freedom! And From Mom’s Demand Action:

Of course she doesn’t! Being anti-gun means never having to know the issues at all!

Now while I may not be in favor of this ruling, the reactions are nothing short of hysteria.

“Gun Death” Stabbing

We need just ONE MORE LAW!

A teen was stabbed to death in downtown Raleigh after July 4 fireworks Friday night.

Sean was nice enough to include the suspect’s rap sheet.

He was given a suspended sentence for B&E back in 2011, and now he’s murdered somebody. Can somebody tell me the law that would stop this?

Yeah, but we need to ban guns to stop murder!

“Gun Death” Arrow

Good old-fashioned killing!

A man has been arrested on suspicion of killing his brother’s friend with a bow and arrow during a dispute at his Southern California home.

Thankfully he used an old-fashioned and out-dated weapon, otherwise there would have been a “Gun Death”, and that would have just been horrible!

For Those Wanting More Weer’d in their Podcast Life

I’m a member of another one!

I’ll need to look into how to embed the podcast here at Weer’d World, but like I said, busy week.

It’s a cool podcast, Sean and Adam picked a bunch of bloggers to each do a short segment on a realm of their expertise (I’ll be doing reports on anti-gun activists and activity) and compiled them all into one fun and interesting show!

Cool idea, and as far as I know nobody else is doing one like it. I really enjoyed doing my segment, and then listened to all the others and was really enjoying it. I suspect the next one will only be better.

So yeah, if you’re a person who likes reading gun blogs and also likes podcasts, this is a show for you!

Shortcuts

Been a VERY busy week and weekend, so the blog bug really isn’t biting.

Still the interesting articles are piling up, so let’s just rip into a bunch of them.

First is this messed up case:

Just this week, such a lapse in judgement occurred. A Vermont grandmother dropped her granddaughter off at a daycare center with a loaded gun inside the diaper bag. As investigators reported, the grandmother was rushing to get the child dropped off in time. She placed the loaded weapon inside the diaper bag and then forgot about it. The gun was loaded, but it was holstered, the safety was on and it had a trigger locking device. The 17-month old girl discovered the gun, proving that a toddler will automatically locate the most dangerous or dirty object in the room.

Fucked up story. First this is the big reason why ALWAYS prefer on-body carry, and make sure that every action they do in the course of the day (like riding in a car, or using the bathroom) that gun remains in their control at all times. If you do carry off-body, in say a purse, bag, or fanny pack, you need to always be conscious that the bag is ALWAYS with you, lest something serious like this happen to you.

Also I have to wonder, what’s the purpose of carrying a gun with a trigger lock? I wonder if it was just some sort of retention holster that was mis-identified.

Next up, more news on the quality of the TSA:

The Rapiscan scanner can see your private parts, but it can’t see your gun.

…The research team — from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and the University of California in San Diego — said they managed to conceal guns and “plastic explosive stimulants” from a Rapiscan Secure 1000 scanner.

Good for the TSA, costing us billions of dollars and our 4th Amendment rights, as well as our dignity, for NOTHING!

Disband them YESTERDAY!

Next up is this stupidity

Now that summer is over and school is starting up again, it’s time for the torrent of ridiculous “zero tolerance” suspensions and arrests to resume.

Summerville High School in Summerville, South Carolina, is wasting no time: A 16-year-old student was arrested and suspended for writing a story in which he used a gun to kill a dinosaur. The student, Alex Stone, was assigned by a teacher to write a story about himself. Stone chose to embellish his story with obviously fictional details, like dinosaurs. But the teacher saw the word “gun” and the rest is history, according to NBC-12:

Man, when I was an early teen I was steeped in the action movies of the 80s and early 90s where the drug narcs were running around killing drug dealers. I spent my free time doodling such violence in my school notebooks, and even submitted a few original stories for class credit. Yep cops shooting drug dealers, with blood, gore, and guns, and I think I got an A.

By the time I was this kid’s age I was writing fiction serials for the school newspaper. Now it was Orcs getting their guts spilled by swords and arrows.

And oddly I’m not a threat to anybody.

So there the tabs are much clearer now!

“Gun Death” Bad Parents

Wow this is just bizarre!

Parents of an infant that unexpectedly died in Luzerne County were arraigned on criminal charges Friday.

…Authorities said 2½-month-old Jaxon Eckrote died on Valentine’s Day from asphyxiation and compression injuries from a recliner chair.

…According to detectives, **REDACTED** eventually admitted that the child slid off of her shoulder and became wedged in the reclining chair, where it later died.

Don’t you have a crib or a playpen? One thing everybody who knows anybody about young children knows, is you have to be careful where and how they sleep when they’re this young. They’re not strong enough to move if they’re in a perilous position we all take for granted!

Hey, But not a “Gun Death”, so maybe I’m getting worked up over nothing.

Over Penetration

Great video

My Father-in-Law was showing off his .357 home defense gun. I asked him “Are you worried about over-penetration?”

His answer was “Nope!”

Of course I asked this before I knew as much as I do about terminal ballistics. From observations and tests, just about any resistance to a bullet (especially a hollow point or soft point round, or any other round designed to expand/deform) will start to lose it’s gyroscopic stability lickity-split, and start dumping ballistics energy.

Does that mean over penetration isn’t an issue. of course not, but I agree with this video that bullets are not high-power lasers that just burn a straight line through everything in their path.

Always be sure of your target, and what lies beyond it, but really pick a good gun, and a good caliber, and shoot straight and you will most likely be fine.

Are Anti-Freedom People Against People Shooting Dangerous Animals?

Yes!

So this link goes to the Wallmart Shootings Blog, run by Joyce Foundation shill Jason “Baldr” Kilgore of Cease Fire Oregon. It’s a aggregation site for this laughable purpose:

Why are there so many? Is it just because there are a LOT of Walmart locations around the country? And yet, other than one or two sporadic reports, you don’t hear about so many shootings at Kmart stores, or Target, or Costco. Is it because Walmart sells guns and ammo, and those others don’t? As far as I can tell, Target never did. Kmart stopped selling guns and ammo in 2009. Costco in 2006. It doesn’t help that Walmart often has banks inside their stores, making them even more of a target.

Is Walmart’s pro-gun stance a factor? Does it make people feel justified in taking their guns to Walmart and settling disputes in a violent manner?

Yep, because Walmart has a sporting goods counter with guns and ammo, there is “more violence”.

Still back to the story linked, and officer was called to Walmart because there was a beggar setting up camp in their parking lot and harassing their customers. When an Officer approached him the hobo let the dog off his leash and it attacked the officer. The Officer shot the dog (which is both expected to live, and unexpectedly will be returned to the owner. I would hope the dog would be put down, but likely this is because the Officer didn’t wait to get maimed first. Also another side note, what’s with beggars with dogs? If you’re so down on your luck you need to harass people for change, why would you have a large breed dog that needs to be fed?) and arrested the Beggar for trespassing. I hope they also book him for assault with a deadly weapon.

And in the end Jason closes with the same tagline he uses every time: “Walmart. Save money. Die faster.”

Yep, we need to ban guns! So not only is Jason, who again is a spokesperson for a Joyce Foundation gun-ban group, against a person shooting a dangerous dog in self defense, he seems to be against a Police Officer shooting a dangerous dog while doing his duties of removing an unruly trespasser from private property.

Remember, they are not anti-gun, they are Anti-freedom, and if the Officer had been killed, or severely injured by the dog, Jason wouldn’t have even been interested in this story because only “Gun Death” counts in his bloody little game, and NOBODY, even Police Officers doing the bidding of the public, have the right to defend themselves.
