“Gun Death” Sexual Abuse

No death here, but let’s not split hairs. Ye been warned!

A Toledo man who recorded himself sexually abusing a 3-year-old has been sentenced by a judge to life in prison with the chance of parole after 15 years.

Brutal and horrible, hey but he didn’t have a gun…or a weapons less the parts he was born with and a camera to document his crime.!

NO GUN DEATH! MOVE ALONG!!

Swing Swing Swing!

My Mom decided that little LaWeer’da needed a swing, and for Easter she got her one. One problem, the swing Mom bought was for a swing set, and we planned to hang it from a nice branch on our crab apple tree. A little rope, and a little duck tape for safety and what do we have?

SWING

Now when experiencing something new this little girl is ALL BUSINESS! She saw her first geese today, and while I really think she enjoyed looking at the big birds her face was one of deep concentration while she studied them.

Not with the swing, this smile was 100% unprompted because she LOVED it!

Thanks Gran Ma!

Let’s SWING!

Jiff Salted Caramel Hazelnut Spread Review

Now this is cool!

Salted Caramel Hazelnut

So we should all know about Nutella. It’s a German spread made from Hazelnuts with chocolate flavor. Recently a bunch of other companies have started to compete with it. One of them is Jiff, who makes a chocolate spread which I have, but haven’t tried yet. The other day at the store I noticed that not only were the Jiff spreads on sale, but they came in Salted Caramel as well.

So I tried it. HELLS YEAH! It also has chocolate flavor, and is much sweeter than Nutella. The salty caramel flavor is prominent and very good.

This is likely available everywhere and well worth a look.

Narraganset Del’s Shandy Review

I first talked about it here. Now it’s showing up in my area.

Shandy

Like JUST showing up! A few people at work had them, so I decided to go out and look for some. At the store I knew I’d have the best chance of finding it, I looked around and couldn’t find any. So I asked, and they were JUST unloading the truck and one of the staff personally grabbed me a six pack.

First impression: Awesome!

This stuff is really neat, it’s kinda like a Corona with a lemon in it, but sweeter. One could get used to this. Also since they used concentrate it’s still 5% alcohol (I suspect they might have also fortified it) but it’s exactly what you’d expect, beer with lemonade flavor, and they did it right.

Also it comes in 16oz cans which I like. Further because I’m a scientist and you can’t turn that off, I poured a little into a glass to see what color this stuff is. Now Narragansett Larger is a light brown color (not sure what color their summer ale is), this stuff is the EXACT color of any of the mass produced ales and pilsners.

I’m sure you need to be fairly close to Rhode Island to find this stuff, but if you are, give it a try. Even my wife, who was noticeably creeped out by the idea liked it.

Good Luck Guys!

Brady Campaign Sues Gander Mountain and Straw Buyer:

The families of two volunteer firefighters killed in the Christmas Eve 2012 shootings in Webster and two survivors of the attack are suing the store that sold the guns used against them.

In addition to Gander Mountain Co., the lawsuit also names Dawn Nguyen, who bought the weapons, and the estate of the shooter, William Spengler Jr., as defendants.

Attorneys working with a national gun control group, the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence, announced that they had filed the suit on the plaintiffs’ behalf Tuesday morning at the law offices of Woods Oviatt Gilman LLP in Rochester.

As far as I know Nguyen filled out all the forms and broke multiple federal and state laws when she bought and transferred that firearm. Unless they have some audio recordings where Nguyen openly stated the gun was for a felon, they have a pretty hard case to make.

For Nguyen, they do have a case, but I doubt she has assets to make it worth it!

So yeah, good luck with that!

Noir Episode 2

Episode #1 made the antis head’s explode. Also this show has REALLY exposed the racism of the anti-gun side, and they talk about that in this episode

So good, and I like his insights.

Firearm Use IS a Martial Art

Oleg has a great post about older-style martial arts and more modern weapons.

There are many anti-gun people who will claim that you don’t NEED a gun, just learn a martial art, and while the more classical martial arts are GREAT things to know, really you don’t need to go too deep down the martial arts rabbit hole before they start teaching you to fight with impact and edged weapons.

It’s easy to extrapolate this onto modern firearms, as they too are martial arts weapons, and knowing how (and how not to, and WHEN not to) deploy them is indeed a martial art in itself.

Now there are lots of reasons people get into martial arts, and some of these reasons have lead to variations of the art that get away from safety and self defense. Things like Tae Bo take the fighting aspects out of it and focus on fitness. You have your strip-mall Dojos that cater to kids that teach more discipline, goal orientation, and avoidance over actually winning in a fight. You have the various competition martial arts which are probably the closest to real fighting, but the quick and severe attacks that might save your life are NOT what you want to do against a friendly competitor.

Still when you get to people who’s goal is to go home safely at the end of the day no matter what dangers you might encounter, those people ALSO choose to carry defensive arms.

“Gun Death” Bad Justice

Thankfully not US Justice, but Turkey:

A 62-year-old man looking for a wife on a TV dating show stunned the host and studio audience by revealing that he had murdered his first wife and later killed a lover with an ax during an argument.

Double Murder and back on the prowl! Obvious reason to ban guns, right?
