“Gun Death” SxSW Festival

South By Southwest festivals are a pretty big draw. Now the Austin Festival is the site of a “Gun Death”.

Police are waiting to file capital murder charges against a suspected drunken driver who plowed through a crowd of South by Southwest festival-goers early Thursday morning in downtown Austin before they identify him.

Police Chief Art Acevedo said the man will face two charges of capital murder and 23 counts of aggravated assault. The name of the suspect is expected to be released Thursday afternoon, Acevedo said.

Police also clarified who was killed in the incident. One of the dead, a man from the Netherlands, was riding a bicycle near the intersection of 11th and Red River streets when struck. The other, an Austin woman on a moped, also was killed. Both were pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

Another man on the moped is in stable condition, Acevedo said.

Pretty Horrific. Note that if these people had been attacked with a gun rather than a car, this would be a “Mass Shooting” and would be international news. Since it was not a “Gun Death”, its hardly worth noting.

Only “Gun Deaths” count because “Progressives” like to drive their cars, and if they might have polished off a few bottles of wine during dinner, that’s none of your damn business!

NRA Doubles Down on Yee

The NRA is pointing out this page of Senator Yee’s own website:

For his commitment to ending gun violence, Assembly Speaker pro Tem Leland Yee (D-San Francisco/Daly City) has been named to the Gun Violence Prevention Honor Roll by the Brady Campaign. The Brady Campaign will honor Yee and other state legislators from throughout the country who earned an A+ for working against gun violence at a reception during the National Conference of State Legislators in Nashville, Tennessee, on Wednesday, August 16, 2006.

“More than nine children are killed each day as a result of gun homicides, suicides, and unintentional shootings in the United States alone,” said Yee. “While I am proud to stand up against the gun industry and support violence prevention efforts, it is unfortunate that such legislative measures are still needed to end these senseless acts of violence.”

The Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence and its legislative and grassroots affiliate, the Brady Campaign, is the nation’s largest, non-partisan, grassroots organization leading the fight to prevent gun violence.

I grabbed a screenshot of the page in case somebody tries to Memory hole it. It likely won’t be Yee because I don’t think he’ll get much computer access from his cell.

I wonder how many of those people killed with guns was because of his gang friends he was just connected to….

Quote of the Day: New York Times

They might as well run up the white flag!

This bill is evidence that cynics were wrong when they said nothing would come of the surge of attention to guns after the Newtown, Conn., massacre in December 2012. Since then, The Times reported, 70 laws have been passed to loosen restrictions.

Go ahead and read the whole thing. Its a hand-wringing anti-gun screed of anti-freedom fear-mongering. Still at the end he simply admits that the anti-gun activists are getting dashed against the rocks.

Even their Daddy Warbucks, Michael Bloomberg won’t be able to buy them the pony they want.

Which Anti-Gunners Aren’t Criminals

Anti-gun Senator Leland Yee charged with a slew of Federal Crimes.

California state Sen. Leland Yee has been released from custody and his lawyer says the Democrat from San Francisco plans to plead not guilty to corruption and gun charges.

…Yee’s lawyer, Paul DeMeester, declined to discuss the charges against the senator in detail, saying the 137-page criminal complaint will take time to read and fully grasp the criminal case. But DeMeester says the senator plan to plead not guilty to six charge of public corruption and one count of conspiring to sell guns without a license.

Very serious charges. What’s really scarey is the dude who worked so hard to keep even the most neutered AR and AK semi-auto out of the hands of lawful California Residents was apparently trafficking black market full-auto AKs from Russia THROUGH Gun-Utopia New Jersey for sale to dangerous criminals.

Public safety has NEVER been a concern of the anti-gun movement.

Also have fun watching the anti-gun feeds for this story. *crickets*

“Gun Death” Italy

Italy is fairly hostile to lawful gun owners. The idea being that it amounts to less “Gun Death”.

Authorities in the northern Italian city of Lecco say they have arrested a mother who confessed to stabbing to death her three young daughters.

There’s some justifications for “economic reasons”, but likely the woman is simply insane. You don’t see the “Common Sense” types saying that “A knife in the home is 1,473 times more likely to kill a family member than an attacker.” Its probably true tho, given that knives in the home are more likely to chop dinner than anything else.

Still if it saves JUST ONE LIFE!!!!!

Shotgun Fun

I’m glad he didn’t advise birdshot. While those loads COULD be effective, better to stick with #4 or bigger buck or slugs for social work. Also I’m not as big a fan of slugs in a smooth-bore shotgun simply because it takes a gun that’s good at being a shotgun and turning it into a gun that’s a lousy rifle.

Still there might be times when you need a lousy rifle, so I don’t see any reason why you shouldn’t keep a few slugs on a bandoleer or side-saddle or what have you.

Secret Service WTF

Ok So first the Secret Service was disciplined for whoring it up at a Colombian Brothel

Now they’re being sent to the naughty-chair for getting crunk on assignment.

Three Secret Service agents on President Obama’s detail were sent home from Holland after reportedly spending a night out drinking in Amsterdam ahead of the president’s arrival Monday.

Secret Service spokesman Ed Donovan told Fox News that the agents had been sent home “for disciplinary reasons” and had been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.

The Washington Post reported that the three agents, all members of the Secret Service Agency’s Counter Assault Team (CAT), went out in the Dutch capital Saturday night. Staff at their hotel alerted the U.S. Embassy after finding one of the agents passed out in a hallway Sunday morning.

According to regulations recently adopted by the Secret Service, agents on official trips are prohibited from drinking alcohol 10 or fewer hours before being on duty.

Seriously? COME ON! Ok look, I’m no fan of our President and I’ll be happy when he drifts into post-presidential retirement in 2016, and I feel overall he beclowns our nation. Still he IS the President of the United States and he was duly elected TWICE. The man deserves respect from both the people and his protection detail. Plus no matter what the reason for this total lack of discipline from what should be considered one of the most illustrious and exclusive branch of US Law Enforcement/ Public Service (They protect the people who were chosen to represent us in our government, so in effect they are protecting all of us) the Secret Service should also have its own bit of honor.

I can see a group of hand-picked people who I’m sure all have impressive resumes getting a LOT more leeway then your average employee or even Law Enforcement Officer, but you’d think once the group of jokers in Columbia were found out, the scandal of that would suddenly become a major concern for the management-level agents.

Of course the director of the Secret Service is one of many Obama Appointees, it makes you wonder about his selection process. Behavior like this shows bad management, and like any work force that falls into disarray I’m sure this incident didn’t come without warning signs. Workers tend to push boundaries before they blatantly cross them. Managers that are lax on this behavior often find them self crushed by a massive snowball in the end.

One of the Best Political Ads I’ve EVER Seen!

Don’t know anything about the race, but I’d be amazed if this isn’t a boon for her campaign.

Also for the Big-Government GOP-types, here’s another Small Government Candidate coming to mark you for extinction!
