How Dumb Can People Be?

Super dumb! That’s about an unoffensive a picture as can be.

In other news my Daughter LOVES KNIVES! Every time I pull out a blade of any sort her eyes light up. I don’t let her HANDLE the knives because unlike cleared and visibly open rifles knives are DANGEROUS!

Still she loves watching daddy cut up boxes for recycling and chopping food when I’m cooking.

Like me, when she’s old enough to safely learn how to handle knives she’ll be getting one of her own. Likely one of the POS freebies I have sitting here on my desk in the Armory. Also next time I make a knife order I think one of these will be going into my cart!

Don’t tell the “Progressives”, they will be upset that I’m willing to let my baby become a responsible adult!

Anti-Gun: The Act of Being Smug and Ignorant

This article is really an amazing thing:

TO the chief counsel of the Idaho State Legislature:

In light of the bill permitting guns on our state’s college and university campuses, which is likely to be approved by the state House of Representatives in the coming days, I have a matter of practical concern that I hope you can help with: When may I shoot a student?

I am a biology professor, not a lawyer, and I had never considered bringing a gun to work until now. But since many of my students are likely to be armed, I thought it would be a good idea to even the playing field.

I have had encounters with disgruntled students over the years, some of whom seemed quite upset, but I always assumed that when they reached into their backpacks they were going for a pencil. Since I carry a pen to lecture, I did not feel outgunned; and because there are no working sharpeners in the lecture hall, the most they could get off is a single point. But now that we’ll all be packing heat, I would like legal instruction in the rules of classroom engagement.

At present, the harshest penalty available here at Boise State is expulsion, used only for the most heinous crimes, like cheating on Scantron exams. But now that lethal force is an option, I need to know which infractions may be treated as de facto capital crimes.

As a Biology professor, I would assume he might be familiar with the concepts of research. I did a little quick research and noted that concealed carry has been allowed in Idaho since forever, and shall-issue since 1990. I didn’t research if his college was any different than any other school I’ve ever attended or visited where the dean of the school and visiting faculty are the only members of the faculty who actually LIVE on campus. This sorry excuse for a professor goes to the grocery store, goes to the park, drives on public roads, goes to the mall. All places where these days he likely is surrounded by armed people…some of them may even be his students.

But OH NO! If we allow guns on campus this is the great crack in the dam where all society breaks down! THERE WILL BE BLOOD IN THE STREETS!!11!. Where have we heard this before.

Also its obvious he didn’t research other universities where carry has been allowed. Lots of private universities have never taken issue with lawfully armed students and faculty, and the state of Utah has allowed campus carry for quite some time now.

Also what’s obvious is he knows NOTHING about the lawful use of firearms:

I assume that if a student shoots first, I am allowed to empty my clip; but given the velocity of firearms, and my aging reflexes, I’d like to be proactive. For example, if I am working out a long equation on the board and several students try to correct me using their laser sights, am I allowed to fire a warning shot?

If two armed students are arguing over who should be served next at the coffee bar and I sense escalating hostility, should I aim for the legs and remind them of the campus Shared-Values Statement (which reads, in part, “Boise State strives to provide a culture of civility and success where all feel safe and free from discrimination, harassment, threats or intimidation”)?

Maybe the professor should take a basic pistol course rather than lecturing from a position of ignorance.

In terms of the campus murder rate — zero at present — I think that we can all agree that guns don’t kill people, people with guns do. Which is why encouraging guns on campus makes so much sense. Bad guys go where there are no guns, so by adding guns to campus more bad guys will spend their year abroad in London. Britain has incredibly restrictive laws — their cops don’t even have guns! — and gun deaths there are a tiny fraction of what they are in America. It’s a perfect place for bad guys.

Well except that England doesn’t count violent crime the same way we do, and you seem fixated on “Gun Death” rather than murder rates which are entirely different things. Further have you noticed the policy of campuses where massacres happen? And all of this really adds a LOAD of stink to your final statement:

I want to applaud the Legislature’s courage. On a final note: I hope its members will consider my amendment for bulletproof office windows and faculty body armor in Boise State blue and orange.

So essentially you’re a smug asshole preaching from a position of ignorance and wanton fear-mongering. This is the anti-gun way!

“Gun Death” Sledgehammer

Man, seems these murders aren’t that uncommon. We report about them a lot!

A Central Florida man is accused of fatally beating his sleeping father in the head with a sledgehammer after a night of “playing puzzles.”

…The son told police his father said something that upset him while playing puzzles and he decided to attack him.

WTF?? And somehow people need to come for MY GUNS? You can buy a sledgehammer at any hardware store. No background check, no age verification, and unless you go REALLY fancy you can have one for under $50.

Most people have sledge hammers, and most people do not murder people, especially for such trivial reasons.

Its the person, not the tool we need to worry about.

Why We Win

When the courts rule that permits must be issued, people flock!

Gun owners are flooding the sheriff’s offices in two California counties with applications for concealed weapon permits following a bombshell ruling two weeks ago by a federal appeals court that citizens need not justify their requests.

…More than 500 applications have poured in to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department in just two weeks — roughly the total number of applications filed in 2013, a spokesman said. Orange County Sheriff Sandra Hutchens announced on the department’s website that the county will comply with the federal court’s order immediately, sparking the wave of applications.

that’s just two weeks! I suspect the year will see many more, and that only compounds after that!

Meanwhile on the anti side:

California’s attorney general on Thursday waded into a court fight over the state’s strict gun laws, asking an appeals court to reverse itself and restore the leeway local governments had to decide who can carry a concealed firearm.

…”Local law enforcement must be able to use their discretion to determine who can carry a concealed weapon,” Harris said in a statement announcing the court filing.

California, which has enacted some of the strictest gun laws in the United States, allows residents to carry a concealed weapon if they meet several requirements, including completing a training course, demonstrating good moral character and establishing “good cause” to have the gun.

Vs the rest of America where anybody who can legally buy a gun can easily get a permit. In some cases without any training or additional certification, or no permit at all! The places even with NO restrictions on carry have seen no ill effects.

This is simply bigotry.

The people of America WANT to carry guns, and it is simply anti-freedom to deny this right!

Interesting

Never heard of such a thing, but I’d try it!

Is a Del’s frozen lemonade-inspired Narragansett shandy destined for a store shelf near you in the near future? Probably.

…A PR representative for the company confirmed to me Thursday that the news was indeed true, but Narragansett CEO Mark Hellendrung tells me the talk is “premature” until the company tweaks the recipe and receives government approval. If all goes well, the beverage, a combination of ‘Gansett’s award-winning lager with Del’s lemon concentrate, will be released sometime in April. It will be sold in six-packs of 16-ounce tallboy cans and weigh in around 5 percent alcohol by volume.

Never heard of a Shandy before, but if its a ‘Gansett, it’s gonna be good!

YMMV! 🙂

“Gun Death” Savage Beating

Not a “Gun Death”

A man who allegedly punched a cabdriver in the head, knocking him to the ground and eventually killing him, has been charged with murder.

Hands and feet. Something we all have, but we all aren’t murderers. Its the person, not the tool!

Those who trumpet “Gun Death” are denying reality!

Another Four-Legged DGU

This one MUST make the antis cry massive tears!

An 11-year-old girl shot a cougar that was following her 14-year-old brother to their home at Twisp, in north central Washington, the state Fish and Wildlife Department said.

The female cougar killed last week was about 4 years old and weighed about 50 pounds — half of what it should weigh, said Officer Cal Treser.

…The children’s father, Tom White, had chased the cougar away from their calves twice on Feb. 19. The next day his son went out to feed the dogs and was returning to a basement door when he spotted the cougar following him, Treser said.

“His dad was in there and said, ‘Close the door!’ and there was the cougar, right behind him,” Treser said.

His 11-year-old daughter had a tag to hunt cougars and shot the animal, he said.

So the shooter was eleven! The shooter was a GIRL! and the shooting was not only legal as a defensive shooting, but also the animal was legally tagged!

Good shooting! Also, remember carry your guns!

So far this winter, Fish and Wildlife agents have tracked and killed five cougars for attacking domestic animals in the Twisp-Winthrop area. Five others in the Methow Valley have been killed by hunters.

The department issued five special permits allowing hunters to use dogs to track and kill cougars in response to an unusual number of cougar problems this winter. There may be more cougars than usual or they may be having trouble finding deer, their usual prey, agents said.

Cougars are no joke, and a starving one will look to make just about ANYTHING its meal!

Don’t become Cougar poop!

Guns: Not Just For Two-Legs

Via ENDO:

The man was making noises in hopes to spook the Moose. The moose was NOT a male in the rut (tho that makes little difference in the bottom line), and the moose attacked and continued to show aggression.

Clean shoot IMHO, I just hope the meat doesn’t go to waste as I LOVE moose meat.

Moose have no fear of humans, and they are so big they can kill you without much effort. This was a wise move.

Also while Moose hunters tend to prefer larger caliber guns, a full magazine can sure do a lot to up the chances of a stopping shot.

Settled Science

From an actual ecologist who used to work for the terrorists:

A co-founder of Greenpeace told lawmakers there is no evidence man is contributing to climate change, and said he left the group when it became more interested in politics than the environment.

Patrick Moore, a Canadian ecologist and business consultant who was a member of Greenpeace from 1971-86, told members of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee environmental groups like the one he helped establish use faulty computer models and scare tactics in promoting claims man-made gases are heating up the planet.

“There is no scientific proof that human emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) are the dominant cause of the minor warming of the Earth’s atmosphere over the past 100 years,” he said.

Even if the planet is warming up, Moore claimed it would not be calamitous for men, which he described as a “subtropical species.”

Man that’s pretty damning given the extreme nature of Greenpeace. This guy had to have been a true believer in his time with the group.

“Climate Change” has become a religion of the “Progressives”. Even now with the “Climate Change” alteration to what was once “Global Warming”, the acolytes are still noting that carbon dioxide are causing the change, which recently has been colder. Except Carbon Dioxide is a Greenhouse Gas which should be working to make things warmer and ONLY warmer.

Also Climate always changes, always has, always will, and has long before there was man. The idea that somehow this natural change is abnormally large in recent years seems to only come from a group of discredited scientists who cooked numbers so they could get more lucrative grant money.
