“Gun Death” Hammer in New York

Wow, what’s to blame, hammer control, or New York’s gun laws?

Two men were attacked in Harlem early yesterday by a hammer-wielding gang of thugs, police sources said.

The first victim of the seemingly random violence, Timmie Sampson, 31, was hit in the head with a hammer outside 1370 Fifth Ave., at East 115th Street, at about 12:45 a.m.

Sources said he was set upon by a gang of five or six black males wearing white T-shirts, and that at least one of the goons struck him over the head with a hammer.

Five or six men, armed with hammers with the purpose of committing serious violence. Sounds like a moment when I’d REALLY like to have a gun, and Harlem is one of those places where unless you are super connected and rich, you just can’t legally have one.

And even in Harlem you can walk into any hardware store and simply BUY a hammer. No ID, no background check, no records kept by the store. You can even buy them ONLINE!!!!

Remember the tool is irrelevant, its the man behind the tool!

Drink Like James Bond Pt 2: OG Bond Drink

OK so Guffaw said to the last drink

Not Fleming, doesn’t count.

I could argue the point…or I could mix another drink. What do you think I chose?

Vesper Martini

This one harks back to the very beginning of Flemming’s writing career, Casino Royale. In the book Bond orders a drink:

“A dry martini,” [Bond] said. “One. In a deep champagne goblet.”

“Oui, monsieur.”

“Just a moment. Three measures of Gordon’s, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet. Shake it very well until it’s ice-cold, then add a large thin slice of lemon peel. Got it?”

“Certainly, monsieur.” The barman seemed pleased with the idea.

“Gosh, that’s certainly a drink,” said Leiter.

Bond laughed. “When I’m…er…concentrating,” he explained, “I never have more than one drink before dinner. But I do like that one to be large and very strong and very cold and very well-made. I hate small portions of anything, particularly when they taste bad. This drink’s my own invention. I’m going to patent it when I can think of a good name.”

The name he chose is the Vesper Martini, what I’m drinking is a little different. First up Kina Lillet doesn’t exist so I substitute Lillet Blanc, further the mixture of gin and vodka seems a bit frivolous to me, so I substitute New Amsterdam Gin as it is much milder in flavor than my usual Tanqueray so it has similar characteristics of gin thinned with vodka.

Also since the lemon peel is little more than a garnish I throw in some pieces of pickled lemon. The brine adds some saltiness to the drink which I prefer in a Martini, and it also softens and mellows out the rind and flesh making them quite pleasant to eat.

Its much milder than the more robust Dry Martini in flavor, making it a great choice for those looking to dip their toe into the deep water of Martinis.

Also I thought about shaking this martini to demonstrate what shaking does to a martini, but I decided against that little bit of cocktail masochism and instead allowed the fixings to sit quietly with the ice and then after a few quick swirls to integrate I strained it into my chilled glass.

The clouding on the glass is simply condensation from the evening humidity, but the drink is crystal clear and smooth as silk. There’s nothing wrong with a shaken martini, but I prefer my martinis to have as little agitation as possible while it chills.

Oh and for a deep cut for Bond fans I just found 007’s first film appearance, albeit on the small screen rather than the big screen. Casino Royal from Climax! a full eight years before the world was treated to Dr. No on the silver screen! Its horribly twisted for an American TV audience, but its interesting to watch.

Enjoy!

“Gun Death” Falling TVs

What does this sound like to you?

More than 17,000 children — one every 30 minutes — are treated in emergency rooms across the country for TV-related injuries every year, and the rate of kids hurt from TVs tipping over has nearly doubled in two decades, according to a study to be released Monday by the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Prompted in part by a rash of TV-related deaths in the Chicago area, the study found that close to 400,000 children were rushed to hospital ERs from 1990 to 2011 with injuries that included concussions, lacerations and traumatic brain injuries. Children ages 5 and younger were the most vulnerable.

Sounds a lot like the “Gun Death” rantings…but this is falling TVs, not guns or bullets. Since only “Gun Deaths” count to these jackals, they are silent to this.

Drink Like James Bond

In the latest James Bond novel “Carte Blanche” 007 drinks several of these:

Carte Blanche Drink

The drink is two parts blended Canadian Whiskey (Crown Royal is what Bond requests, Segram’s Seven is what I have, which isn’t ideal, but you want a fairly plain whiskey so it it doesn’t distract from the other ingredients) half-measure of Triple Sec, and a few dashes of Angostura bitters.

The drink is to be served on the rocks, and given that its a variation of the Old Fashioned drink, it helps if you have an Old Fashioned glass like I do.

I realized I have and enjoy all of the ingredients, as soon as I got home (like AS SOON AS I CAME IN THE DOOR) I decided to mix up one. Damn good! Also while I dislike shaking a martini like 007 is famous for because it makes the drink cloudy and if you use smaller ice cubes like those found in bars and ice machines it will often lead to your drink having lots of mini icebergs floating in it. Since this drink is served on the rocks there is no ill effects to shaking the drink, and it does make the drink colder and gives it a different mouth feel. I have a nice little mini-cocktail shaker that is great when I’m mixing up one just for me. If I were mixing for a group I’d put ice in all the glasses, measure out the cocktail, shake and strain it into the glasses just to keep the ice even. For just me, I simply dump the full contents of the shaker into my glass.

And in the time it took to write this my glass is dry!

Give it a try for yourself! I think you’ll find it is a perfect balance of sweet and robust to suit many pallets.

Learn to Shoot a Wheel Gun From the Master

AMAZING video. And you really can’t argue with who is the undisputed best double-action revolver shooter in the world.

I may have to try that crossed-thumbs hold when shooting my Ruger LCR .357. It feels weird to cross my thumbs behind the gun, but it also feels REALLY good with my hands on the revolver.

“Gun Death” School Lunch

The lunches at my schools sucked…but this is another thing!

Nineteen of the 23 children who died after eating a tainted free school meal in India’s Bihar state have been buried in and around the school grounds.

Angry parents say they want the graves to serve as a reminder that the children died due to state negligence.

A doctor at the local hospital said a chemical used in pesticides was the likely cause of contamination.

In all, 47 primary school children fell ill after consuming the meal of rice and soybeans on Tuesday.

23 Dead and many more sick. If this had been a gun it would be the only news we’d hear about….now its just a foot note. How sick are the “Gun Death” people that this story isn’t even relevant!

More Anti-Gun Lies

Man Joan just has to be straight up dumb to write this:

If you have been reading this blog, you know that I have been writing about how often “law abiding” gun owners and gun permit holders have been shooting other people or causing trouble in our communities. Owning a gun comes with risks. I wrote about this in my latest 2 blog posts. In fact, if you decide to own a gun for self protection, you need to realize that gun owners are more at risk than non gun owners in an assault

Of course her link to the “Study” is Broken, here’s the study. Its old, and heavily rebuked From the study itself:

However, compared with control participants, shooting case participants were significantly more often Hispanic, more frequently working in high-risk occupations1,2, less educated, and had a greater frequency of prior arrest. At the time of shooting, case participants were also significantly more often involved with alcohol and drugs, outdoors, and closer to areas where more Blacks, Hispanics, and unemployed individuals resided. Case participants were also more likely to be located in areas with less income and more illicit drug trafficking

Read that as “The people most likely to be shot are people who CRIMINALLY posses a firearm, likely while engaging in illegal activities”.

Joan is demanding lawful gun owners give up their guns, and claims that gun owners make us LESS safe. Meanwhile the people committing the overwhelming bulk of violent crimes are people who are already classified as illegal criminals.

This is also how the Arthur Kellermann study was framed. He made no exception to weather the attacker or the defender was engaging in a legal activity at the time of the shooting, nor did he care if the people WITH the guns legally owned them. Kellermann used further deceit by qualifying that a successful “Self Defense” meant a dead body in your house. In lawful gun defense the bulk of these events have no shots fired, or non-fatal wounds.

Nonfatal gun woundings are far more frequent than fatal shootings. In 1985 Cook reviewed data that indicate that about 15% of assault-linked gunshot wounds known to the police are fatal, implying a ratio of about 5.67 (85/15) reported nonfatal assaultive gun woundings to each fatal one. Assuming the same applies to legal civilian defensive shootings, there were between 6,300 and 15,300 reported nonfatal, legally permissible woundings of criminals by gun-armed civilians in 1990. Combining the defensive killings and nonfatal woundings, there are about 7,700 to 18,500 reported legal shootings of criminals a year, which would be less than 1% of all defensive gun uses. The rest of defensive gun uses, then, involve neither killings nor woundings but rather misses, warning shots fired, or guns used to threaten, by pointing them or verbally referring to them.

They are selling fear via misdirection. How about this study, Joan? Look at the number of guns being bought in NICS Checks! Joan Herself noticed the ammo shortages….yet violent crime is DOWN. Can you guess who’s responsible for people thinking its UP?

Still the crux of this blatant and calculated lie is to hide what lawful gun owners have been saying FOREVER! ENFORCE THE LAWS ON THE BOOKS!

We don’t even NEED NICS Background checks, bans on magazines or firearms types, bans on certain weapons. Hell even Carry permits are irrelevant here. If you are a convicted felon you cannot own a gun. PERIOD…FULL STOP! Doesn’t matter if its a .50 BMG rifle, an AR-15, a Glock with a 33 round magazine, or a pink cricket .22 Rifle. If you are a felon, and you are possessing any form of firearm you are committing a crime, you can be charged with a crime, and you can have all guns in your possession taken away from you.

If you don’t have a criminal record, but you are committing a felony while possessing a gun YOU ARE COMMITTING A CRIME AND CAN BE CHARGED AND PROSECUTED, AND CAN HAVE ALL YOUR GUNS TAKEN AWAY FROM YOU!!

Simply Enforce the Laws on the Books, and dump all the extra crap. Cops should be rounding up the known, armed criminals, and frankly we should be locking them up forever, or executing them. I don’t say this for any sense of justice, or for retribution, but just for public safety. (you know, the thing that Joan CLAIMS motivates her as she shills for violent criminals)

Again the law could simply leave those of us who play by the rules alone, and even lay off on the bullshit we need to go through, and just stick it to the criminals.

Hell I just googled “Chicago Shooting”, and I got an article fresh from the presses:

Shootings left three men dead and at least 14 others wounded from early Saturday afternoon to early morning Sunday, according to authorities.

In the most recent shooting, at 4:35 a.m. Sunday morning, a man was killed and three women shot near the intersections of Springfield and Wilcox avenues in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

The man, 24, was dead on arrival at Mount Sinai Hospital after suffering a shot to the chest, police said. One of the women, 21, was in serious-to-critical condition at Mt. Sinai after being shot in the chest and back. Another woman, 23, had her condition stabilized at Mount Sinai after being shot in both feet, and the third woman, 20, suffered a graze wound and refused transport to a hospital.

Additional details about the circumstances surrounding that shooting weren’t immediately available.

We don’t need much to dig into the very numbers Joan is pushing. There IS no legal carry of any kind in Illinois right now. So there’s a felony, and all of these guns could have been confiscated by police on the spot. I think we don’t need to stretch far to know that these people were likely involved in gang activity and by proxy the illegal drug trade.

The fact that the antis work so hard to hide these facts, while working double-time to conflate the legal gun owners with these criminals shows exactly how nefarious they are.
