I own one, its damn near impossible to dig in New England without one to bust up all the roots and small rocks we have in the soil here.

An immigrant from Ghana went on a rampage with a pickaxe in Milan at dawn Saturday, killing a passerby and wounding four others in an apparently random attack, police said.

Carabinieri paramilitary police in Milan said the 21-year-old attacker was taken into custody shortly after the attacks in a residential area on the northern outskirts of the city.

People working in cafes and other businesses near the attack told Sky TG24 TV that the man wildly swung a pickaxe, running down streets and ferociously striking passersby, mainly on the head. Pools of blood stained the streets.

A 40-year-old man died after being struck on the head with the pickaxe and suffering further blows to the abdomen while he lay on the ground, police said. The victim was described as an unemployed man who was heading to a cafe near his home.

Brutal! But when in Rome, you just get to die at the hands of the Pickaxe wielding psycho!

Still in the eyes of those who think “Gun Death” is a relevant metric, by me OWNING a pickaxe I’m just moments away from snapping and killing people at random.

OK maybe because I actually have a Mattock, and not a pickaxe….

A sad end:

A 77-year-old man lay still on an upstairs bed as a 911 dispatcher gave instructions for resuscitation attempts that proved futile late Wednesday night. His wife would be charged with his murder.

“She said that she just choked her husband to death,” an unidentified woman slowly told the dispatcher, sobs audible in the background. “He was very sick and old, and she said that she just killed him.”

Hours later, police charged Dottie Delaney Amtey, 61, with strangling her husband, Sharad Amtey, to death.

Why I support doctor assisted suicide, beats your spouse going to jail after you die, and eliminates the doubt from this tale.

Still funny how she didn’t use a gun. I thought they grew on trees down south!
