Anti-Gun = Dumb

Gotta love how stupid our enemies are:

Guns are hard to trace. There is no easy way for federal officials to trace a gun used in a crime. Shops are required to keep personal records, and can be asked to hand these over for criminal investigations, but federal officials can’t keep those records anywhere. That means every time the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) seeks to establish the origins of a crime gun, it must go through a series of complicated and time-consuming steps. This likely has slowed down any reporting over where the Tsarnaev brothers purchased their weapons, and if they did so legally.

First up, Police have full access to the records, so no problem there. Also both Brothers were residents of Massachusetts, and didn’t have LTC permits, so your dumb question is answered right there. However they got their guns it was illegally. Chances are they got guns the same way the drug dealers in Boston and Cambridge get them. In the event that an unscrupulous FFL sold them guns, well charges will be filed. Non issue 101, you get an F!

Gunpowder is hard to trace. Police might not have had to resort to combing through hours or video to find the bombers if the NRA hadn’t stopped a law that would have created traceable gunpowder. The National Memo pointed out that the NRA played a huge role in stopping gunpowder “taggants,” traceable elements that exist in plastic explosives, poisons, and much of the food sold in the US.

We talked about this here, chances are with nothing more than a microscope and some small samples of common powders I could tell what powders were used…if any at all, we still don’t know this. Still let’s say taggants were used, and ignore all the issues with them being unsafe. It would just say what powder company made the powder…and that narrows it down how? Yeah, DUMB!!!

Stolen weapons are hard to trace. Gun dealers aren’t required to take any kind of inventory of their stores, meaning that lost or stolen guns slip off the radar. The President tried to rectify that problem in his latest budget, but Congress has not.

I’m not even a DEALER, and I’m required by law to have a bound book of all the guns I buy and sell because of my 03 FFL. Sorry, this is Bravo Sierra!

Police couldn’t detect a pattern of suspicious purchases. Another of the Tiahrt amendments stipulates that any background check data used to issue a gun to someone is destroyed within 24 hours, down significantly from the previous target of six months (and before that, 90 days). But, caving to pressure from the NRA, Congress has forced the FBI to stick to a 24-hour retention period– hardly enough time to detect a pattern of purchasing like the stockpiling of ammunition. Add to that the fact that there is no background check on gunpowder — though Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) has introduced legislation that would require just that — and it becomes nearly impossible to trace the brothers’ actions.

Well given that the whole state of Massachusetts has mandatory registration, and said registry has NEVER been used in the prosecution of a criminal…see also New York, Maryland, California, the entire Nation of Canada. Sorry this is about as invalid argument anybody can make.

And one last pile of derp!

Reports from Massachusetts show that police think the Tsarnaevs illegally obtained their weapons. That state is one of a few that issues licenses on hand guns, and no licenses were issued in the brothers’ names. Indeed, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was too young to legally purchase a firearm in Massachusetts. But it’s very possible that the brothers crossed state lines and made a private purchase of a firearm. The world might never know.

Sorry the world DOES know, the bombers used HANDGUNS, so you need to be 21, also you cannot take possession of a handgun outside of your state of residence. They didn’t have the Massachusetts LTC to buy a handgun.

PERIOD, FULL STOP!!11!! DONE! However they got their guns it was illegal. How dumb do you need to be to NOT understand this? How evil do you need to be to NOT WANT TO UNDERSTAND THIS!

Hey, but its all the NRA’s fault….because race car!!! SQUIRREL!!!

I must say, I am grateful that our enemies happen to be some of the dumbest vertebrates on the planet!

Tinfoil Hat

I have no idea how true this is:

This is the downside of having super-seeecret government lists, as there is no way to check up on this crap.

BTW the 212 3B Terrorist classification can be found on the Justice department website.

Police State: Watertown

Wow, So I’ve heard a lot of stories saying that the Watertown house searches were done with home owner’s permission, and even accounts of police standing down when the home owners did not consent, this shows something more illegal:

That’s a single-family house, and obviously nothing was found and nobody was arrested. There certainly wasn’t consent given as there was no time.

Further I get a chill as I had my rifle by the ready as the lockdown persisted, and I would have investigated pounding at my door with a long-arm. Do you think if any of the occupants were armed it would have gone as smoothly?

Overall I’m impressed with accounts of how Massachusetts law enforcement acted, also while I think the martial law thing was carried on for too long (I still think that if Boston had been allowed to have its usual Friday rush hour it would have provided more targets for escape and/or violence from the fugitive) I can understand the police resistance to end the lockdown without a suspect in custody.

Still this event captured on video is nothing short of shameful.

“Gun Death” Serial Killer

I’d call this a serial killing, wouldn’t you?

An Illinois woman believed to be the mother of two infants found dead in the trunk of a car has admitted to leaving another baby girl to freeze to death along a rural road nearly five years earlier.

After reaching an agreement with prosecutors, Katie Stockton of Illinois pleaded guilty Thursday to first-degree murder in the December 2004 death of the infant known as Baby Crystal, who authorities believe was Stockton’s daughter.

And son-of-a-bitch, there’s the Bad Justice tag!

Stockton faces up to 60 years in prison when she’s sentenced April 5.

Sorry but you’ve murdered THREE of your babies for who-knows-why. There’s not excuse for this! Also it shows how well laws can work. I’m a HUGE fan of “Safe Haven” laws, and Illinois, like many states has one.

Don’t want you baby? Well that’s good enough for most states as there are lots of people who are DESPERATE for healthy babies who can’t have one of their own. They don’t care why you don’t want your baby or even WHO YOU ARE! If you take the time to drop off a baby at a designated safe place (Hospital, Police Station, or Fire Station) they will take and care for your baby, and if you don’t have second thoughts inside of the designated timeline they will put the baby up for adoption in a vetted and loving home.

That’s pretty easy, but like all states that have these wonderful laws, it isn’t enough to keep babies from being murdered or abandoned in unsafe or fatal ways. And while 60 years might be more than enough for a life sentence, I’m still a little miffed that “Life” isn’t in the mix for this level of brutality.

Sad story, but hey if we pass a meaningless gun control bill maybe something good will come of it!

My Favorite Ska Song

Long day in the office today, and on top of that my employer doesn’t think a city-wide declaration of martial law is a legitimate reason to not show up to a lab that is on full lockdown.

It’ll all sort out, so let’s hear some awesome ska!

The Problem When Lawyers Write Laws on Ecology

What a mess!

A report by Chatham House says the growing reliance on sustainable liquid fuels will also increase food prices.

The author says that biodiesel made from vegetable oil was worse for the climate than fossil fuels.

Under EU law, biofuels are set to make up 5% of the UK’s transport fuel from today.

“Start Quote

It creates a financial incentive to buy refined palm oil, cook a chip in it to turn it into used cooking oil and then sell it at profit…”

Rob Bailey Chatham House

Since 2008, the UK has required fuel suppliers to add a growing proportion of sustainable materials into the petrol and diesel they supply. These biofuels are mainly ethanol distilled from corn and biodiesel made from rapeseed, used cooking oil and tallow.

But research carried out for Chatham House says that reaching the 5% level means that UK motorists will have to pay an extra £460m a year because of the higher cost of fuel at the pump and from filling up more often as biofuels have a lower energy content.

The report say that if the UK is to meet its obligations to EU energy targets the cost to motorists is likely to rise to £1.3bn per annum by 2020.

“It is hard to find any good news,” Rob Bailey, senior research fellow at Chatham House, told BBC News.

“Biofuels increase costs and they are a very expensive way to reduce carbon emissions,” he said.

The EU biofuel mandates are also having hugely distorting effects in the marketplace. Because used cooking oil is regarded as one of the most sustainable types of biodiesel, the price for it has risen rapidly. Rob Bailey says that towards the end of 2012 it was more expensive than refined palm oil.

“It creates a financial incentive to buy refined palm oil, cook a chip in it to turn it into used cooking oil and then sell it at profit,”

And none of this is any better for the environment than the refined crude oil fuels we’ve used for generations.

Hey, but I’m sure they FEEEL better about it!

Images of The Boston Martial Law

These photos are just amazing.

What really bothers me is the Boston Police Officers in green camouflage fatigues. WTF? As if the black tactical fatigues were bad enough, are they expecting jungle warfare on the Boston Common?

I’m glad the bomber has been captured, and I’m impressed that he was taken alive, still I must say that these SWAT forces are the standing armies our founding father’s warned us about.
